Hoop Group New England Academic Elite Camp Honorable Mentions

The 6-foot-2 combo-guard is super long and has a knack for using his length to get around the defense for finishes with both hands—he had a number of impressive lefty finishes in transition and showed off really solid athleticism at the cup off of second side attacks. Defensively, he uses his length to be active in the passing lanes and is in good cardio shape, so he's effective as a multiple efforts guy. The 6-foot-7 wing/forward is extremely skinny and long, but he's tougher than people think and has some wiggle to his footwork and offensive game. He finishes solidly with both hands, and he moves fluidly for his size and age. The three-point shot is still coming along, but Purdy can make plays for himself or others on the offensive end and does a good job using his length to bother finishers on the other end of the floor. Though he doesn't get his three-ball off super quickly, he shot it super well this weekend. He also got to his spots in the mid-range and elevated for shots and used his quickness to breeze by defenders to the rim. He plays hard on both ends of the floor and only has one speed—100%—which will allow coaches to feel confident he'll do whatever they ask of him. He has a great feel for using his body and stopping and going in order to throw off the defense, he can shoot the rock from three off the dribble, and he has good athleticism at the rim—when you combine all of these abilities, he's a threat from everywhere on the floor and is a matchup nightmare. His quickness was on full display this weekend as he effortlessly got to the front of the rim and then made plays for himself or his teammates. What I mean by that is that he plays with confidence and makes the simple/correct play whether it shows up for him in the stats or not. The strong-bodied lefty was hot from three this weekend (so he's an effective floor spacer), but he also knows how to decisively attack closeouts and is an excellent passer once he touches the paint. He won't necessarily wow you with vertical athleticism, but he has strength and coordination that allows him to get to his spots and make plays. It takes a bit to see Gordon Jr.'s value on the court, but you'll see it if you stick around for long enough. Most people know him as a sharpshooter from Oliver Ames and Dana Barros ZGXL, but the rising senior actually has a lot more wiggle and athleticism at the rim than people realize. His insane length allows him to make some pretty impressive finishes at the rim, and he handles the rock and drives closeouts confidently. Additionally, the 6-foot-2 guard has a beautiful shot from three and can hit it on the move, off the dribble, or in standstill situations. The 6-foot guard has solid athleticism—good strength, speed, and jumping ability—but it's mostly his heart that allows him to be effective on the court. He never stops hunting down rebounds on both ends of the floor, sliding his feet and being active on the weak side, and attacking loose balls. His attitude and effort is second to nobody, and that makes him a phenomenal teammate. He can make open threes, finish in transition, and is super unselfish, too. Caterino is only a rising sophomore but will be hard to keep off the court for any coach because of how hard he plays. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
