The transfer portal continues to create buzz within the MD/DC high school landscape and as we've done over the past month, it calls for another release of a notebook breaking down the recent moves. It wouldn't surprise me if another move or two happens before school starts in the next week or two, but for the immediate, here are three bigs moves that made headlines over the last week.

The Engineers picked up another splashy name as a transfer that should significantly bolster their chances in positioning for a city title. 2027 Braydon Young has spent the last two seasons at PVI and played at Mount St. Joseph as a freshman, but will finish off his high school career at Poly. Standing 6'7"-6'8", Young will be one of the top prospects in the public school scene with his combination of size and shooting. He'll step into a huge role for the Engineers as both he and Cam Wood make up one of the better transfer classes in the Baltimore City Public School landscape. Both Young and Wood have experience playing against high-level competition and as the other programs such as City and Edmondson prepare to make their run at the City championship, Poly now puts themselves very much in the conversation as heavy contenders.

More size en route to Chase Street

It's been a funky couple of weeks for St. Frances in the transfer portal after an announcement from 2028 Josh Hurd stating he committed to the Panthers, which is no longer the case. Hurd's future school has not been announced, but from what I've gathered, he's a done deal to another private school in the Baltimore area. 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2441539' first='Mazari' last='Browne'] was the headlining pickup for head coach Nick Myles, but now that move is no longer happening either. Plenty of factors came into that decision, but Browne will be heading out of town for at least the 2026-27 season. He has yet to announce his destination.

The good news on Chase Street is they quickly rebounded and picked up a big who will do plenty of that in Dazmir Giles. A long, lanky big who is still very much in the developmental phase of his overall skillset, Giles is one of the more intriguing 2027 bigs. He played for Overlea these past three years and will put his progress to the test in the BCL, MIAA and a national schedule. Making the transition to the Catholic League will be a process, but the ceiling and potential that a prospect like Giles presents is intriguing to say the least and should pair well with the stable of talented guards.

Calvert Hall scores underrated wing

Losing the services of 2027 Cam Wood and 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2731617' first='Ellis' last='Johnson'] left a pretty sizable void between the 2/3 positions for the Cardinals, but they received good news from 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2927438' first='Noel' last='Igwe']. He was the key cog for Mount Hebron last season and intended on heading to St. Frances as well, but changed his plans and will head to Calvert Hall and bolster their rotation next to 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2265685' first='Billy' last='Stanfield III'].

Igwe adds some offensive firepower and positional versatility that ultimately will move the needle for Calvert Hall with the losses of Wood and Johnson as stated above.
