Wilsonville Summer Tourney - Top Performers (II)

Wilsonville hosted its annual summer tournament on June 19-21 with a loaded field that included some of the top teams in the Portland Metro area. We had the opportunity to drop by and catch a number of games and here are some more of the top performers we watched.    With all of the offensive firepower that's on the Grant roster, Mason has seemingly emerged as a do-it-all, Swiss Army knife kind of player for the Generals. The rising junior scored 11 points on a variety of jump shots and drives to the basket in their opening game win over West Linn, but also worked hard on hitting the boards by grabbing 9 rebounds. But what we really love about Mason's game is not only his willingness but his ability to pass the basketball. He was always on the lookout for open teammates both in the halfcourt and in transition, finishing with a team-high 5 assists.     The newest member of Grant's extremely talented Class of 2028 is Lockhart, and there's no question he fits right into what the Generals do. In their opening game win over West Linn, he was sharp with his shot both off the catch and off the dribble and he got his buckets within the flow of the offense. Capable of defending any backcourt position, the rising junior garnered some steals and also helped out on the boards with 5 rebounds.     Lampert is going to be one of West Linn's top offensive go-to guys this upcoming season and he was rock solid in the three games we saw him play at the Summer Tourney. The rising senior's bread and butter is slicing his way to the basket in both the halfcourt and on the break, utilizing his length and athletic ability to finish around the rim, with the occasional transition slam. He showed he was capable of hitting the open three and did a good job sharing the basketball, finishing with 3+ assists in each of the games we saw.     Last year Sherwood's 1-2 offensive punch was Brody Rygh and [player_tooltip player_id='2132836' first='Avery' last='Johnson'] and while Rygh has moved on to OIT, Dressler has easily stepped right into his role. The rising senior guard was dangerous both with the ball in his hands and off the ball, capably running the offense when needed or getting his own scoring going. The versatility extended to the way he got his buckets as he either drained deep threes or looked to get to the basket and absorb contact.     Another impact transfer at the 6A level is Natwick, who has fit right in with the Bowmen whether he's starting or coming off the bench, the latter he did at the Summer Tourney. The rising junior has been extremely solid inside for Sherwood with both his scoring and rebounding, and has been especially effective in pick-and-roll situations cutting to the hoop. In a win over Valley Catholic, he posted a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double.     Yet another transfer who clearly showed he'll be making noise this upcoming season is Mason, especially on the offensive end. In West Linn's second game against Westview, he was simply on fire with his jumper, both from long range - four threes - and inside the arc as well, finishing with 32 points. No threes in the other two Lions games we watched, but he had solid games in both of those contests and the rising junior was tough on the boards throughout the tournament.
