The updated 2028 rankings have gone live and after a hectic month of July filled with nonstop traveling and numerous circuits, it's time to break down the list in various ways. Below are five stock risers within the top 50 who earned a bump in the latest release.

Miller made his move down to Mt. Zion last season as a sophomore and was immediately thrown into the fire of a very difficult schedule on The Grind Session and various national events. For those who were aware of Miller prior to the 2025-26 season, the potential and upside were evident, but piecing together the production and consistency were a work in progress. That still remains, but the flashes have become much more regular for the versatile 6'6" hybrid forward. Whether it was towards the end of the high school season or strong stretches with Durant 16s this summer, is move up from No. 30 to No. 12 was warranted as there is still many layers to his game to be shown for. He finished the EYBL session averaging just under 10PPG and converting over 50 percent of his two-point attempts. The standout weekend that demanded attention took place in Memphis where Miller averaged an impressive 20.5PPG, 6RPG and 2.5 stocks (steals + blocks) per game.

Shime is another valuable hybrid forward on this list who's best basketball remains ahead of him. However, the flashes over the last four months are starting to show the high upside that he offers on the hardwood while he also protects himself as a nationally coveted football recruit. Like Miller above, Shime has the archetype that many college programs and beyond are prioritizing as a skilled wing with length, but at this stage, Shime's shot has progressed further to the point where his defender can't fall asleep on quick swing passes. In typical [program_tooltip program_id='2077004' first='Team' last='Takeover'] fashion, the box score numbers of the players are never going to jump off the page and that's credit to their balance throughout, but Shime ended his summer averaging 9.2PPG and 4.8RPG in EYBL play. As for Gonzaga, they'll be one of the deepest teams in the DMV this winter, so again the stats will be spread out, but Shime had a nice showing in June for the Scholastic Live Period posting 13.0PPG while sinking 60 percent of his looks from beyond the arc in the Purple Eagles' 4-0 showing.

Raue makes his leap into the top-30 at No. 28 as the rising junior now stands 6'5" and brings an ultra-confident shooting stroke to the floor. At DMV Live, he proved that he'll be a focal point of the St. Andrew's offense and that's where the confidence and shot making stood out most as he averaged 14.2PPG, 5.3RPG and 2.8APG. If he can continue to impact the box score in the ways that he did throughout his two weekends in June, his stock and projection could increase even further. It'd also likely result in wins for St. Andrew's as they gear up for yet another competitive MAC schedule.

McLinton improved his ranking as he sat just outside the top-50 and now is parked at No. 39. His sophomore season at Bullis was hindered by injury, so the sites of McLinton's progress was hit-or-miss, but his command on the ball throughout the month of June was enough to warrant the improvement in ranking. He has feel, twitch to get to his spots and really knows how to get his guys in their spots for scores. He averaged over 5APG in eight games of DMV Live play, did his diligence on the glass and got to the rim when he needed to. Moving forward, stringing together a healthy winter season will be key for McLinton as will showing some worth as a shooter that the defense has to account for.

Costley received a 15-spot boost up to No. 45 and for good reason. The 6'2" guard will take over the reigns as the floor general for head coach Gerry Abrams this season and he's spent the spring and summer proving he has the poise, processing and balanced skillset to do so. His summer resume is one that deserves attention, posting an efficient 11.2PPG on 41/46/87 shooting splits while grabbing just under 5RPG and dishing out 2.8APG. His control of the offense brings stability and he'll be a prospect on the rise as a result in the MIAA A Conference this winter. Costley was also an engine for TTO National 16s and a major piece to their puzzle in earning hardware on the MADE Hoops Circuit this month.
