THE PLATFORM: Sunday Stars

This past Sunday at THE PLATFORM in Chicago, Illinois there were many great performances. Here are five players that stood out and that I believe had the best performances of the day.    [player_tooltip player_id='2532341' first='Keyae' last='Lacy'] proved he can impact the game in just about every way, but his scoring ability is what stands out most. He consistently got to his spots and elevated over defenders with confidence. Around the basket, he finished through contact with creative, acrobatic finishes, and he also showed he can stretch the floor by knocking down shots from beyond the arc. A true three-level scorer, Keyae pairs his offensive skill set with impressive athleticism, which was on display all weekend. He's a natural bucket-getter with the tools to play at the next level.     Malachi ran the offense as the teams primary ball-handler and constantly put pressure on the defense. His handle and shiftiness were the biggest takeaways from the weekend, as defenders struggled to stay in front of him. Despite standing at 5-foot-10, he makes up for it with outstanding athleticism, routinely competing for rebounds well above his size. He also knocked down multiple three-pointers, making him a threat both on and off the ball. Malachi is a dynamic guard with a lot of offensive weaponry.     Karon had an outstanding weekend offensively, attacking the basket with confidence and consistently getting downhill. He welcomed contact, earned frequent trips to the free-throw line, and converted at a high rate. He also displayed a polished mid-range game, knocking down several difficult fadeaways against team [program_tooltip program_id='2075551' first='Indiana' last='Game']. As a playmaker, Karon was just as effective, collapsing the defense before finding open teammates for quality looks. His balance of scoring and facilitating is exactly what you want from a lead guard.     Bennie is an explosive guard whose athleticism immediately jumps off the page. His quick first step allows him to get downhill in a hurry, and once he gets into the paint, he's an exceptional finisher. Time after time, he converted difficult, acrobatic layups that left defenders with little chance to contest. His ability to change speeds and attack the rim makes him one of the tougher guards to contain. Bennie has the athletic tools and offensive ability to develop into a next-level player.     Chad spent the weekend competing with Team RDM on the 12U circuit and made his presence felt with his energy and effort. He played with a relentless motor, consistently crashing the offensive glass to create second-chance opportunities for his team. Defensively, he protected the paint well and used his active hands to rack up multiple deflections and steals. While he's still developing his overall game, Chad's physical tools, motor, and willingness to do the dirty work give him plenty of long-term potential.
