Caught team’s mid morning game on Sunday. Ransom possesses fluid athleticism as a primary guard in the 1 or 2 slot. His ball handling skills demand attention from the defense at the onset as he has a quick first step that he utilizes at any time. If there is a gap or an angle he is hitting it fast to get to his spots on the floor. Shooting wise he caught fire in the 2^nd half knocking down 4 3’s at a high clip with 1 being to cut the lead down to 4 with 30 seconds left. The margin was more than 15 at one point in the game and his hot hand helped orchestrate a close come back. Ransom’s shot making ability and versatility makes him a consistent and reliable offensive threat.

Malachi ran the offense as the teams primary ball-handler and constantly put pressure on the defense. His handle and shiftiness were the biggest takeaways from the weekend, as defenders struggled to stay in front of him. Despite standing at 5-foot-10, he makes up for it with outstanding athleticism, routinely competing for rebounds well above his size. He also knocked down multiple three-pointers, making him a threat both on and off the ball. Malachi is a dynamic guard with a lot of offensive weaponry.

Ransom has announced that he has transferred from Chesterton and will be at Valparaiso High School for his senior season. We had a chance to see him play with Indiana Game Gold on the UA Grind Circuit in Hamilton, Ohio this weekend. The quick, athletic, left-handed guard did a great job of consistently beating his man off of the dribble and getting into the paint. At the end of his drives he proved to be a creative finisher when up against opposing size. He brings some two-way ability to the backcourt that could be worth a look for some small college coaches.

This sophomore really burst onto the scene on Friday at the Fishers Holiday Classic. The 5’10” left-handed guard had two very impressive games. He was effective off of the bench I stretches against Class 4A #1 Fishers and then shared the team-high with 14 points in the third place game against Portage. He is a quick, shifty playmaker off of the dribble and has a good looking outside shot. Ransom is definitely a name to remember going forward in the Class of 2027.
