Summer Stock Risers: 2027 Point Guards

With the summer grassroots season nearly complete and most evaluations done until the fall, the recruiting landscape for the Class of 2027 is beginning to take shape. Several prospects elevated their stock with strong performances throughout the June and July live recruiting periods. Here is a look at the point guards in the 2027 class who did the most to boost their recruiting profile this summer.    Gray had a strong finish to the summer at Nike's Peach Jam with Team Durant. The tough, strong, left handed lead guard averaged 11 points per game in North Augusta and proved he could create offense off the dribble against some of the nation's top players. The rising senior has an excellent command of the basketball to go along with high level foot speed. He recently annoucned a move to The St. James Academy for his senior season.     One of the most dynamic guards in the class, McGlone was very impressive for BWSL in Las Vegas and North Augusta this month. He is a strong, atheltic, attacking, high scoring combo guard who can really get downhill and is a capable scorer at all three levels. He finished the summer scoring over 21 points per game at Nike's PIT and should be one of the more heavily recruited guards in Virginia's 2027 class.     Another lead guard from The St. James Academy, Bontemps was solid for the NY Lightning down the stretch in the EYBL. The rising senior has high level speed at the lead guard position, a good command of the basketball and is a creative finisher in the paint. He is a capable scorer as evidenced by three double digit scoring games this month and really competes on the defensive end. As a on-ball defender he has active hands, good instincts and can turn defense into offensive opportunities for his team.     Edmonds rode momentum from an impressive performance at DMV Live Session 2 in late June to an outstanding July on the Hoop Group circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='2390411' first='Team' last='AKT']. The rising senior is an excellent decision maker with the ball in his hands and proved this summer that he is both a scorer and distributor from the point guard position. Edmonds is also a shot maker with range, making him an attractive point guard prospect for college coaches in the 2027 recruiting class.     Lamm was the floor general for [program_tooltip program_id='3424568' first='Team' last='Loaded Gold'] at the 3SSB Finals in Rock Hill and really impressed in two evaluations. He has a combination of strength, basketball IQ, toughness and skill that make him an extension of his coach on the floor. The rising senior always seems to make the right decision with the ball in his hands, whether that means finding an open teammate or making an open shot. Lamm is going to make a college program very happy when he makes a decision in the coming months.
