Stock risers from 2029 Rankings Update

Stock risers from 2029 Rankings Update

Our 2029 Rankings Update saw a handful of prospects make their debut in our list while only a select few were able to move up the rankings after making their debut in the initial release. These players really stood out during the summer months and are considered the biggest stock risers from the summer in the 2029 class.

[program_tooltip program_id='2076317' first='Midwest' last='Basketball Club 3SSB'] went on a run to the 16 U championship after winning the 15 U title last season and the emergence of Trenz helped erase the loss of Andrew Terry from last season's team. Trenz was playing tough in the paint by blocking shots and rebounding at a high level and showed his skill by spacing the floor and attacking closeouts off the dribble with confidence. Showing the athleticism to dunk on your head off drives, Trenz had a big summer at the grassroots level. Arguably his biggest game came against Compton Magic as Trenz finished 8/9 from the field with 19 points and showed the ability to space the floor, attack with both hands and post up against a mismatch. The next game Trenz hit the game-winning put-back to send [program_tooltip program_id='2076317' first='Midwest' last='Basketball Club 3SSB'] 16 U to the title game. Trenz also is getting up on the rim easily as his vertical explosiveness continues to improve. Trenz looks like a prospect who could make the national rankings when it's all said and done.

One of the most athletic bigs in Ohio regardless of class, Ramsey is an explosive athlete who had some unreal highlights this summer. Easily finishing from the dunker spot, Ramsey just has to catch and explode vertically to dunk at the rim even when defenders are in the area. Defensively is where Ramsey has the most upside as his length and explosiveness makes him a top rim protector in Ohio. Still figuring out a lot of the offensive end of the court, Ramsey has an incredibly high ceiling and I expect him to be a much better player in December and January compared to when I last saw him in June.

Cornett had a nice weekend in Louisville with a Nova Village 15 U group that started to really figure some things out in July. Cornett has excellent positional size and a strong frame like his older brother. I love the stride length Cornett has when attacking the basket and he seems to be just as far along skill and shooting wise as his older brother was at the same stage while already being a couple of inches taller. While his older brother went through a major developmental break through early in his junior season, Tyson will also have to make a similar jump to prove this ranking but with his natural ability, athleticism and work ethic, he is somebody I'm betting on for the future.

[program_tooltip program_id='2320052' first='All' last='Ohio Red'] made it out of their pool in Peach Jam and Woeste was a major part of that effort. One of the most efficient scorers at the 15 U level on the EYBL this summer, Woester shoots the ball at an extremely high clip from downtown with his feet set. Add in the fact Woeste is elite at moving without the basketball and does a nice job playing through contact and you get one of the most polished scorers in the state regardless of class as just a sophomore. At the high school level, you get to see Woeste try and break people down off the dribble and create his own shot more and he had a big June and I would imagine his sophomore season numbers should dwarf his freshman season statistical output.
