One of the most anticipated times on the entire grassroots calendar wrapped last weekend in the June Scholastic Live Period— another opportunity for college coaches to return to the sidelines and evaluate prospects in person, however this time around with their respective high school programs. NJBCA Jersey Live II at Montgomery High School brought together many of New Jersey's top high school basketball players, ultimately delivering plenty of high-level competition and standout performances featuring under the radar prospects making a name for themselves while established recruits continued to prove why they're among the state's best. Here's an initial look at some standouts from Friday's action in Skillman, NJ.    On the heels of an extremely hot spring, [player_tooltip player_id='2504912' first='Chace' last='Redler'] once again proved to be a confident, versatile and efficient perimeter shot maker who continued to exude an extremely valuable shot making profile— outside catch and shooting shooting, deep range accuracy, off the dribble shot making getting to space for smooth mid range pull ups off the bounce. Redler also impressed as a creator— attracting help defense and leveraging not only that defensive attention he sees but also his court vision to create clean looks for his teammates.     A forward who possesses an intriguing combination of soft outside shooting touch and fluidity off the bounce at his size and a welcoming addition to this Red Bank Catholic group, [player_tooltip player_id='2884536' first='Evan' last='Wells'] impressed with his ability to score out of the low post— particularly off a few post touches that featured him backing down defenders and getting to open space for smooth fadeaways and quickly turning base line and finishing with a soft touch reverse layup. All while still showcasing the most unique aspect of his skillset at his position— spacing the floor as a three point shooter and knocking down outside shots with a confident and quick release.     Having legitimately blossomed into a strong and valuable interior presence for this South Plainfield group, [player_tooltip player_id='3544207' first='Boresa' last='Jawula'] was most impactful as an efficient finisher around the basket— benefiting from actions that intended to get guys going downhill and attacking the basket off the bounce while also showing solid footwork and soft touch around the basket when operating in the low post. Jawula also thrived at generating second chance possessions on the offensive glass, being relentless on the boards and winning rebounding battles with a lot of his physical tools.     Known largely for his dangerous outside shooting ability, [player_tooltip player_id='2568645' first='Austin' last='Kolakowski'] demonstrated so much of that perimeter shot making while also showcasing an added layer to his skillset that continues to grow. Kolakowski's performance to open the second scholastic live period featured a heavy dose of his typical lethal spot up perimeter shooting paired with another layer in his game that's become more and more reliable— increased comfort initiating offense as a ball handler and attacking driving angles off the bounce to get in the paint and finish around the basket.     An extremely valuable piece in the frontcourt who's coming off the heels of an extremely impressive breakout sophomore season, [player_tooltip player_id='2788586' first='Andrew' last='Bena']'s performance over the first day of the second scholastic live period continued to prove his case as a skilled and mobile forward who offers an interesting layer to South Plainfield's offense. Thriving on the interior, Bena particularly got going from the high post— attacking driving angles off the bounce and finishing with soft touch from different angles around the rim while also showcasing good footwork on the inside.     A towering and intimidating interior paint presence who brings value on both ends of the floor with his size and length, [player_tooltip player_id='2405359' first='Toussaint' last='Malukila'] thrived the most as an Interior finisher— noticeably impressing by catching deep low post seals and finishing with power on the rim, capitalizing on second chance opportunities to convert on impactful putbacks on the offensive glass, and even providing finishing in the open floor rim running in transition.
