Our coverage of the June Scholastic Live Period continues this week as we cover the various classes before setting eyes on a busy July. Below are the 2028 prospects from MD/VA who fueled winning a at a high level.

Woodard is the epitome of an energy guy who brings his full effort no matter if he's in the starting lineup or coming off the bench. Standing 6'3"-6'4" his athleticism enables him to have a much bigger presence during rim activity and this was on full display in Springdale's 15-point win over St. Frances. In this game specifically, Woodard was flying around on both ends, but allowed his defense to generate runouts that he'd finish emphatically as the Lions dominated from the opening tip. He's a lob threat in transition, plays within his offensive limitations as he rounds out the other aspects of his game, and is an absolute menace defensively as indicated by his six steals in 29MIN.

Buchman put together a month of June that made a big impression on me and as a result, will debut in our rankings update coming later this month. A 6-foot-2 off-ball guard, Buchman is a certified sniper and showed why in his standout performance against Hargrave where his 22PTS fueled Spalding to victory. He went 5-for-10 in that contest alone, but concluded the S2 weekend sinking 47 percent 17 attempts from three in three games. Spalding was in need after losing guys like Colt Busse (ETSU) and Moe Lonergan (South Kent) from last year's team that plays the floor-spacing rle in the backcourt, but Buchman looks prepared to step in and contribute in a similar fashion.

The Swiss army knife that Phillips has turned himself into is going to bode well for his long-term success at the college level. He can competently guard multiple positions, rebounds it at a high rate as a wing and can lean on his off-ball instincts and a timely cutter offensively that not only generates easy buckets for himself, but allows college coaches to envision him next to star players filling a role. Phillips is capable of putting together and impressive stat line when rolling on all cylinders, but the guarantee with him no matter if shots are falling is that he's going to do the dirty work that impacts winning. In McNamara's perfect 4-0 weekend, the 6'5" rising junior posted 12.7PPG, 2.5RPG and 2.5APG while shooting 65 percent from the field and 57 percent from three.

One of the clear winners for the month of June, Fitzgerald put up video game numbers as he makes a loud case as one of the best hybrid forwards in the state of Virginia. It all starts with his relentless motor that emerges with his rebounding presence at both ends, investing multiple efforts on given possessions that help shift momentum and his balance as a scorer at 6'7"-6'8." Flint Hill spent their two weekends at DeMatha without knowing what a loss felt like as Fitzgerald engined them to a 5-0 showing behind 30.5PPG, 15RPG and 2.5 stocks (steals + blocks) per game.

Franklin will end up being one of the more coveted prospect in the VA 2028 class thanks to his ability to play on/off the ball at 6'5." His fluidity, pace and decision-making are all aspects that clearly translate to the next level and while he's prided himself in being a productive utility player over the last couple of seasons, it's his time to be a primary guy at Potomac School and there are plenty of reasons to be excited. I always love to see how players bounce back after a rough performance because they're bound to happen. The way he responded to his rough outing against Bishop O'Connell was loud, and by that I mean a 30-point outburst that included hauling in seven rebounds in a win versus a scrappy Bethel group. Despite him having lows leading up to the Bethel game, he remained confident that his dependable jumper would find its way back and it did just that while mixing things up off the bounce and using his length around the cup when he found edges in driving lanes.

It was another weekend for Robinson to further confirm his fit with PVI and he did so with shining colors. The Panthers stomped their three opponents in S2 play by an average of 16.3PPG and while there's established depth and role awareness throughout the rotation, Robinson will clearly be depended on heavily this season as the lead guard. The way in which he operates with pace, gets to his spots with balance and sees the floor well both as a scorer/distributor is not only the reason he's fetching HM offers, but also will be why a dominant PVI program won't skip a beat in 2026-27. Even when he isn't scoring or dishing assists at a high rate, you still feel his impact on the game, but the first part of that statement is a rarity. The Landstown transfer averaged 17.7PPG and 3.7RPG in their 3-0 showing, headlined by his strong ending performance against Georgetown Prep where he had 26PTS, 6REBS and 4STLS.

I wrote prior to S2 that Avery may have stiff competition at the No. 1 overall ranking as the update drops later this month, but the skilled, 6'8" forward displayed the level of dominance that I've been waiting for across a sample of games that regained hold of his top spot. Not only was he punishing rims, operating in the mid-range with efficiency and making good decisions off the dribble, Avery was also an absolute game-changer defensively. His timing on weak side rotations as a shot blocker were key as was his pursuit of rebounds at their peak to close down possessions and start fast breaks. He ended S2 with an involved stat line of 21.5PPG, 9.3RPG and 3.7 stocks per game.
