Which Palmetto State Prospects Made Noise at GBCA SE Live?

South Carolina was well represented throughout the event, with several prospects taking advantage of the stage and delivering strong performances against quality competition. Here are some of the Palmetto State standouts who made plenty of noise over the final weekend of the scholastic period.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    Leading off the list of Palmetto State prospects who made noise at GBCA SE Live is [player_tooltip player_id='2813875' first='Jamel' last='McKinley']. McKinley has been making noise all summer long, earning an offer from Coastal Carolina at their team camp and now one from Paine College after a couple of big games in Atlanta. He opened up the weekend with 26 points on 4 3PM against Alexander (GA), impressing with multi-level scoring at 6'7". I caught up with Jamel and the Cobras in a win over Calvary Christian (FL) on Saturday, and McKinley caught my eye with his mid-range shot-making, even though his threes weren't falling. The flashes are there with Jamel, so it's all about him becoming stronger and more consistent to reach his full potential.     Zyion is a guy who has many fans within college programs. He might not be the high-volume scorer or highlight-reel player that some of the other guys on his team are, but Jones can impact the game without needing much of the ball. He is as good at driving and finishing with both hands as any wing or forward in the 2028 class, but he is also continuing to show good progress with his outside shot. Jones moves well without the ball, competes extremely well on the offensive glass, and is a plus defender when he's on the floor. It's only a matter of time until the Division 1 offers start rolling in for Zyion.     Speaking of offers rolling in, that's exactly what happened for [player_tooltip player_id='2450993' first='Aaden' last='Bruton-Smith'] after a pair of huge showings against Peach State foes. The first one was a 17-point, 4-block, and 2-steal game against Tri-Cities (GA), before later putting up 21 points on 5 3PM against Cross Creek (GA). The perimeter shooting has been streaky for Aaden this month, but his length and athleticism are on display defensively every time you watch him. Whether it's contesting jumpers, protecting the rim, or forcing turnovers, Bruton-Smith is never a guy who disappears on the defensive end. He picked up offers from Grambling State, Coastal Carolina, and UNC Asheville this weekend.     Another South Carolina 2027 who made some noise this weekend is Tucker. Scholl averaged 16.3 PPG across two days in Georgia, knocking down multiple threes in three of the four games. I checked in with him in a matchup with Mater Lakes (FL) on Saturday, a game where he put up 17 points with 3 3PM. Although it wasn't his most efficient game, Scholl was able to affect the game with playmaking and rebounding on both ends of the floor. He moved the ball when he needed to, found teammates out of paint touches, picked up second-chance points, helped clean the glass defensively, and forced a couple of turnovers. Tucker picked up Division 2 offers from Young Harris and Converse after making some noise at the GBCA SE Live.     All summer long, Brice has proved he belongs against the best of the best in the Southeast. He saved his best for last this weekend, putting up 23 points and 10 rebounds against Impact Christian (FL) in the Yellow Jackets' final game of the month. Wiersma got going early with his go-to moves in the post, before expanding his game to the perimeter with a pair of threes. A lot of Brice's offense has to be self-created, which will make him better in the long run, but also means there will be some ups and downs right now as T.L. Hanna finds consistency in a young backcourt.     Rounding out the list of Palmetto State prospects who made noise at the GBCA SE Live is [player_tooltip player_id='2861502' first='Jack' last='Webb']. Webb led Seneca in scoring in three of their four games in Emerson and averaged 17 PPG with 9 3PM on the weekend. The Bobcats struggled in the matchup I watched, but Jack made some noise in the second half with 15 points on 4 made threes. Webb is one of the best off-the-dribble shooters in the state. He can hit shots going left or right in the mid-range or from deep, so defenses must be locked in on him at all times. Once they have their full team, I expect Seneca to be one of the best teams in Class 3A, with Jack playing a key role in their success.
