What Incoming Freshman Impressed in Riverside Brookfield Debut?

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription***</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Who were the best of the best from the class of 2030 at the Riverside Brookfield Live Event?&nbsp; It is impossible to see everyone, but I was able to catch well over half of the teams at the event!&nbsp; Here is my <strong>Riverside Brookfield: Top 2030 Performers Who Caught Our Attention</strong>!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Houston Zepeda (Rock Island)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 6'2” combo guard could be the next go to guard for Rocky.&nbsp; Clean looking shot from the perimeter with nice skill handling it.&nbsp; Looked super comfortable playing with a veteran group.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2850776' first='Cameron' last='Murkey Jr'] (Belleville West)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Murkey is emerging as one of the better 2030s in the metro east early in the process.&nbsp; High IQ combo guard who had nice instincts as a passer.&nbsp; Can knock down a three point shot while being a solid driver.&nbsp; Rebounds for a guard and competes defensively for a young kid.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Marmadu Baker (Rockford Guilford)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 6'6” power forward jumped off the floor with his length and athleticism.&nbsp; Light on his feet running the floor, high/low seals, and drained a corner three.&nbsp; Showed glimpses as a rebounder.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Layton Jones (Evanston)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jones is the cousin of former Wildkits star Lance Jones.&nbsp; He is a 6'5” power forward who is built like a defensive end.&nbsp; Proved he can rebound at a quality level already.&nbsp; Hook shots along with power finishes in the paint.&nbsp; He is going to contribute from day 1 for Evanston.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Elijah McKinnie (Kenwood)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wiry PG who we saw this spring and could be the next standout guard from Kenwood.&nbsp; Tight handles and plays with a ton of speed.&nbsp; Doesn't back down from anyone.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3665027' first='Larry' last='Ellis'] (Bloom)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ellis is a 6'2” point guard who lit up the nets against St. Ignatius.&nbsp; High level shot maker from distance pouring them in one after another both pulling up and off the catch.&nbsp; Pushes in the open floor and is a slick passer.&nbsp; Bright future for Ellis!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Robert Smith Jr (Marist)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smith played limited minutes for Marist in the game we saw, but there is no denying the potential long term.&nbsp; He is a 6'2” shooting guard with a ton of projection and basketball IQ.&nbsp; Pure shot from three is one of his strengths early on.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Chad Carter (Joliet West)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Carter goes about 6'3” with a nice frame and plus athleticism.&nbsp; Major burst with the ball in his hands getting to the rack in transition.&nbsp; Most comfortable playing in the open floor at this stage.&nbsp; Flashed as a passer kicking to shooters on drives.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2411075' first='Noah' last='Marshall'] (Fenwick)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marshall is the younger brother of Nathan Marshall who is a five star Michigan football player.&nbsp; He will have a similar career path as he is a football and basketball standout.&nbsp; Interestingly their hoops games are similar.&nbsp; At about 6'4” he is a very good rebounder on both ends.&nbsp; His best offensive skill was his passing at the forward position.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
