We recently updated our 2028 class rankings in Virginia, adding over 25 names in a class that continues to get better it seems like every day. Here's a look at part one of the power forwards and centers in the rankings.

#11) [player_tooltip player_id='2847084' first='Blake' last='Fitzgerald'] | 6'7” PF | Flint Hill

Fitzgerald announced he will transfer back to Flint Hill after spending last year at Highland School, and he had a great showing at DMV Live where he put up consistent numbers and showed why he's one of the more unique players in the DMV. At 6'7” he's a bit of a tweener who is an above average athlete with long arms that allows him to play above the rim, he plays at a different cadence than most that makes him tough to guard, he can knock down open shots from deep, and he's a bit of an old school player who may have a funky looking game but he produces consistently across the board.

#26) [player_tooltip player_id='2918931' first='Jarrell' last='Hurt'] | 6'7” PF | Henrico

Hurt continues to trend in the right direction, as he's developing at a nice pace and has also done a great job shedding his baby fat and getting into better shape as well. The 6'7” forward is a tad undersized for conventional purposes but he's an absolute tank in the lane that can clear out space, he's quick and explosive for his size making him a tough one-on-one guard in the paint, he clogs the lane and challenges shots well in the paint, and he is starting to improve his touch and range as well.

#35) [player_tooltip player_id='2951871' first='Garrett' last='Overbay'] | 6'8” PF | Christiansburg

Christiansburg shocked a lot of people with their deep and young roster that spells trouble in the NRV over the next few years, and the most impressive prospect of the group is Overbay. The 6'8” big man was an All Region selection and is just scratching the surface with how good he can be. He a very fluid athlete who moves his feet well defensively to stay in front, offensively he can run the floor and moves well off the ball when he screens or when guards get in the paint, he plays above the rim and has soft touch around the rim, and he's got a good base skillset on the perimeter that should get a lot better with time.

#36) [player_tooltip player_id='3336925' first='Chum' last='Kodi'] | 6'9” C | Highland

Kodi is the youngest brother of a line of Kodi's that are playing college basketball right now, and he has all the tools to be the best of them if he continues to work and develop moving forward. Already 6'9” he has a strong physical frame and is a good athlete who can get up and down and play above the rim, he finishes well in the paint with soft touch and he has good hands, he can clog the paint defensively, and like many bigs his age he has a lot of room to improve as well

#54) [player_tooltip player_id='2918958' first='Elijah' last='Haughton'] | 6'7” PF | Benedictine

Haughton is far from a finished product, but when it comes to a new age four man he has a lot of tools that bold well for him moving forward as he continues to develop. The 6'7” big man has long arms and he uses those to finish in traffic and challenge shots defensively, he moves well and runs the floor hard to get buckets in transition, he has good touch that should continue to extend his range, and he has decent ball skills as well.

#63) [player_tooltip player_id='3659467' first='Antony' last='Tchounteu'] | 6'8” PF | Episcopal

Tchounteu was a breakout player this summer with AKT, and when he showed up at DMV Live Session 1 he looks like someone who is going to jump up these rankings moving forward. The 6'8” big man has a fantastic frame and knows how to use his physicality to clear out space and finish around the rim, he has good touch with both hands in the paint, he plays with a good motor on both ends of the floor, and he is just scratching the surface with how good he can be.

#80) [player_tooltip player_id='3659495' first='Abdoul' last='Tahirou'] | 6'10” C | Amelia Academy

Tahirou is a name that could jump way up this list as he continues to develop, because he's a legit 6'10” prospect who has only been playing ball for a few years and is totally raw. He came over to the states a few years ago and really needs to put on weight but he has long arms and great timing as a shot blocker, he has soft touch all the way out to the three-point line, he can finish with both hands around the rim, and he is nowhere near a finished product moving forward.

#94) [player_tooltip player_id='2854109' first='Iseral' last='Aeyle'] | 6'5” PF | Independence

Aeyle had a very good sophomore season at Independence, and he is one of the hardest players to game plan for in the area as he is a walking mismatch on the offensive end. He may be a little undersized but he's very strong and capable of creating space in the paint, he can step out and is a very consistent shooter from deep to stretch the floor, he can guard multiple positions, and he plays with a high motor as well.
