Under The Radar 2027 Point Guards From Ridgewood Live

Ridgewood High School hosted the 2nd NCAA live event of June this past weekend. PHI had the opportunity to be in attendance for all three days checking out teams and prospects from all across the state along with plenty of college programs. Here we will take a look at a handful of unranked 2027 point guards who had solid showings through the weekend slate.    Caught O'Reilly in early afternoon game on Sunday against a talented opponent. He presents 2-way productivity and plays hard throughout. On outlets he will immediately push for break points and speed up pace. In the ½ court setting I liked the way he moved without the ball or made the extra pass to the open guy whether on pitch a heads, swings, or drop offs. Shooting wise he scored it from 3 levels on some tough treys in rhythm and buckets underneath in traffic. Defensively O'Reilly brings positive energy to the team and will be a go-to threat in the back court this upcoming season for DGN.     Saw Giannini compete about a month ago at one of our circuit events with his [program_tooltip program_id='2078374' first='Full' last='Package'] squad. He fills a bigger role for his school team and meets that demand. I watched him play once this past weekend and he's comfortable from 3 land spotting up off the catch. He sees the floor well for dish offs after drawing help and making extra swing passes on the perimeter to open guys. Giannini has a fundamental feel to fill a 1 or 2 man's role at next level and should see stock continue to rise through his senior season.     I saw Rosario play for the first time live last summer and he sparked interest then. For the 25-26 Hoffman Estates season he proceeded to have a solid junior campaign. In the early evening game on Saturday Rosario showed some of that same punch vs one of the most lengthiest teams in attendance and arguably in the state. He primarily deems to fill the main handling role and the length didn't phase his responsibilities. On the defensive end I tallied him for 3 steals anticipating well in the passing lanes and presenting solid on ball pressure. He also provided value as a connective passer on dribble drive action for assists and hit the back door cutter once too. He will be a reliable point/combo for his upcoming senior year.     Caught his team compete in early evening game on Friday and I liked the way he got up and pressured full length of the court at times. Offensively will make an impact in a variety of ways. He hit a turnaround jumper off the bounce against really tough pressure and knocked down another catch and shoot 3 vs more length. Off the ball Zakaras moves quickly to open up space and converted on a bucket after UCLA cutting in front of the defense. He also had a smooth drop off pass underneath for a dime after drawing the defense over.     Gutierrez provides a spark as the main floor facilitator. He has first step quickness that can put pressure on the defenses to back peddle or are made to help over towards the ball quickly. Offensively he possesses crafty finishing ability and showcased that skill with a reverse layup and underhand scoop in traffic. He will penetrate consistently to find open teammates on the perimeter or sees interior openings once drawing extra defenders. Overall Gutierrez brings sound decision-making skills and plays cohesively well with a couple other talented players on the team.
