Summer Team Profile: Westminster Academy

The Lions played at Philly Live last weekend without their leading returning scorer, DJ Gaines, but have added both a figurative and literal big piece to their lineup in Oak Hill Academy (VA) transfer [player_tooltip player_id='2462349' first='Kimario' last='Sherman']. Head Coach Ehren Wallhoff will bring his squad to Georgia this weekend for the second June Scholastic Live Period. Here is a closer look at their top prospects.    The Georgia native will spend his senior season in South Florida and is already seeing an uptick in his recruitment. Sherman wants to play on the block, has high level strength and size and can socre with either hand around the rim. He has good footwork and is skilled enough to make shots in the midrange and even from beyond the arc. The rising senior can change shots in the lane and could end up being a prospect for the highest level of college basketball.     Gaines will spend the month with the Puerto Rico for the U17 World Cup. He is a quick, skilled, high scoring point guard who had a strong spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2076347' first='SOH' last='Elite']. He is excellent with the ball in his hands, very tough for defenders to stay in front of and has deep range on his jump shot. Gaines will is good passer and a willing defender. He reports multiple mid-major Division I offers heading into the summer months.     Maybe the team's top overall college prospect, Clayton starred for the Nightrydas 15u EYBL team this spring averaging 17.1 points and 6 rebounds per game. He is a high level athlete with size and strength. The Memphis native can score at all three levels and has a good feel for the game for a young prospect. He has the physical characteristics to be a high level defender and is a prospect with plenty of upside.     One of the state's top shooters and a prospect who has earned a spot in our initial 2030 rankings to be released later this summer, Wallhoff shot the ball very well from distance in Philadelphia. The rising freshman has impressive shot preparation and a quick release. Not just a shooter, Wallhoff showed the ability to handle some of the ball handling responsibilities and is capable of creative finishes in the paint.     Another intriguing member of the 2030 recruiting class, Delle is a combo forward with plenty of potential. He is an above average athlete, can straight line drive it from the perimeter and is a capable ball handler and passer for his size. He plays with a high motor, pursues the ball on the glass and is certainly a prospect who watch in the rising freshman class.     Edwards is a do-it-all utility guy for the Lions.  He has good length, above average athleticism and good positional size. In Philadelphia, he served as a ball handler and playmaker in the absence of Gaines. Edwards is capable of guarding multiple positions, providing versatility on both ends of the floor.     Metelus is a three level scorer on the wing with positional size. The rising sophomore has a good feel for the game and with his strength, is able to finish through contact in the lane. He is a prospect to track in the 2029 recruiting class.
