Summer of Hoops: News and Notes

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are some summer updates as we enter Fourth of July Week:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-- Former Cimarron 2026 standout <strong>Urijah Martinez</strong>, who decommitted from New Mexico Highlands on May 7 following the head coaching change, was offered by Ranger Junior College (Dallas), Wayland Baptist University and NMMI within the last week. Martinez was also offered by Vermont State in baseball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-- La Cueva went 2-2 at &nbsp;the Colorado Live Scholastic Showcase this weekend. Bears rising junior <strong>Colin Orell</strong> was named an ‘Impactful Player' and rising junior <strong>Matty Martin</strong> was named on eof the MVPs from Sunday's morning session. Bears rising senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2318843' first='Kobe' last='Cooper']</strong> was named a standout competitor from Saturday's session. La Cueva should be loaded in 2026-27 with returning standouts <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3581634' first='Drew' last='Bramlett'] </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2822061' first='Payton' last='Fuller']</strong> joining the aforementioned trio. Fuller was named an ‘Impact Player' on Saturday. Rising junior <strong>CJ Johnson</strong> was named MVP of one of Saturday's sessions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-- After camping at Yale earlier this month, 2027 Eldorado CG <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2217079' first='Charlie' last='Wills']</strong> has been on fire in June. UNM held its team camp this weekend. Wills scored 40 points against Grants on Saturday. Thursday, he scored 27 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and had 4 steals in Eldorado's win over Albuquerque High. Earlier this month, Wills scored 51 points in two games at Cleveland's team camp. He looks determined to lead the Eagles to a Class 5A state tournament berth in 2026-27 after Eldorado missed out on a bid in Marchg.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-- 2028 Rio Rancho guard <strong>Jasiah Andrade</strong> was offered by Palo Verde College in Blythe, CA.
