Friday's opening day featured quality matchups and plenty of intriguing prospects, with several players delivering performances that demanded attention. This 2030 guard has the chance to be one of the best in SCISA by the time he's a senior, but he already will have a chance to be impactful for Laurence Manning as a freshman. He caught my eye against John Paul II, putting up 15 points plus a pair of assists, and impressing with his ability to catch-and-shoot, finish at the rim, and defend. Hunter and the Highlanders got to play in their home gym, and he looked as comfortable and confident on the perimeter as anyone. He went 4-7 from three in a win over First Baptist, knocking down threes from both corners in the half-court and in transition to provide spacing for his young guards to work. He went for 19 points and 3 assists in it, creating paint touches and rim pressure at ease. When he did get to the paint, Scott was balanced enough to finish around traffic, pull-up at his spots around the elbows, or find open shooters and bigs. He should be one of the top offensive players in SCISA Class AAA, and when he's on, he can look like one of the best scorers in the state. Campbell can create looks for himself at the rim, in the mid-range, and from three, making him a well-rounded offensive threat. He is also a target of many designed sets, and when he has a size advantage against a smaller guard, he can be used in the post to get easy looks. Grant was on the other side of Campbell in game two Friday, making his debut with Palmetto Christian after coming over from Cathedral Academy. He brings championship experience to the Fighting Eagles and will be able to help them win games immediately. Kobe does a great job setting up his teammates with excellent passing feel and ability, but he's also capable of getting a bucket for himself if you slack off on him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
