My first game of day one featured Charleston’s Cathedral Academy taking on Augusta Christian, and Malachi was clearly one of the best players in that game. He went for 19 points and 3 assists in it, creating paint touches and rim pressure at ease. When he did get to the paint, Scott was balanced enough to finish around traffic, pull-up at his spots around the elbows, or find open shooters and bigs. If this weekend was any indication, the Generals will be one of the top contenders in 2A again this season.

One of the best juniors in SCISA this season was Scott. With a team high 15.5 points per game, Malachi helped lead Cathedral Academy to over 30 wins and another 2A State Championship. He is a dominant downhill driver who lives for points in the paint, so once his outside shooting catches up, the colleges will come calling.

Despite being one of the team’s best players and leading scorers all season long, I wasn’t super familiar with Scott’s game coming into the day. However, he quickly opened my eyes by taking over the second quarter with 8 points on a 13-0 General run. Malachi has an excellent finishing package and was a dominant scorer at speed and through contact. He also made a few athletic plays defensively, putting up 21 points, 4 steals, and 3 assists to help pull out the victory.
