NCISAA Live: Saturday Mid-Day Standouts

As we continue along in our live period coverage from last weekend we're going to take a look at some of the standouts from the middle portion of the day from the NCISAA Live Period Showcase at Greensboro Day!    In what was a massive victory for Crossroads Christian over Providence Day, [player_tooltip player_id='3500829' first='Brody' last='Watkins'] had his fearless nature on full display as he helped guide this group to the finish line with his timely shot making and total control of the game. Watkins finished with 12 Points, 5 Rebounds, and 3 Assists in the win. Watkins ability to play on or off the ball while providing a presence of stability on both ends of the floor. He's got legit outside touch, the ability to operate in ball screens, and prides himself on ensuring his team is completely connected at both ends of the floor. Crossroads Christian has earned a lot of respect over recent years with their steady performances and it looks like this 26-27 group has a chance to elevate the program's status even further with Watkins as a huge part of that. Look for Brody to continue establishing himself as a bonafide next level prospect as he might be a riser in these 2027 rankings at next update.     Parker continues to prove himself as a consistent and efficient two way lead guard as he's now stacking real time of consistent health after dealing with the injury bug earlier in his high school career. In the close loss to Crossroads Christian, Parker finished with 11 Points, 6 Assists, and 10 Rebounds while shooting 4-7 from the floor. Parker's blend of feel, skill, and strength allow him to operate comfortable in different types of matchups. He's got a really strong base that allows him to play through contact and not get bumped off of his spot. He's got a ton of high level experience that allows him to help run this offense at a high level and also has the touch to score it from multiple levels on the floor whenever his team needs that from him. Parker continues to establish himself as a next level prospect as he looks ahead to the last live weekend with Providence Day before jumping back in with [program_tooltip program_id='2078535' first='Team' last='Charlotte'] P32 in July.     Phillips had a statement performance for Crossroads Christian in their victory vs Providence Day as he was a constant presence throughout at both ends of the floor and found a way to make huge plays for them down the stretch. In the win, Phillips finished with 17 Points and 3 Rebounds on 7-15 from the floor. Phillips ability to attack off the bounce, keep the defense honest with his jumper, and simply finding a way to seize the moments presented to him within the game. Phillips should be a key piece on this Crossroads Christian team as they look to make another state title push.     Battier continues to show evolution to his game as he's a bigger stronger athlete basically every time we see him. Coming off of a really solid showing at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, Battier showed no sign of tired legs as he finished with a game high 20 Points along with 4 Rebounds and 3 Assists in a close loss to Crossroads Christian. Battier struggled to connect from beyond the arc in this one but was a perfect 6-6 from inside the arc as he flourished in transition and exploiting mismatches in the half-court. Battier's well rounded game, positional size, and overall buy in to his role as a go to guy for this group will shine next weekend in the live period before he returns to A Wigg Elite UAA for July.     Connor is clearly in a special stage of his basketball evolution and it appears to be fueled by pure confidence and self-belief. It's always great to see a good player realize how good he is and that has been the [player_tooltip player_id='2896673' first='Jayon' last='Connor'] experience this spring/summer as he got off to a great start with [program_tooltip program_id='2226228' first='Team' last='CP3'], had a high quality showing at NBPA Top 100, and he's now carrying it into the June Live Period's with Forsyth Country Day. In a loss vs Concord Academy, Connor finished with 20 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Assist, and 1 Steal on 9-18 from the floor, 1-4 from deep, and 1-2 from the line. Connor's physical presence, motor, and ability to exploit mismatches was on full display. As he continues to show more confidence in his perimeter game, it will only keep the defense more honest and open the floor up for him even further. Connor's offer list is growing and I don't see that stopping anytime soon with three more live periods to go this summer.     Boyer will be a significant riser in the 2027 rankings at the next update as he is truly establishing himself as one of the best shooters in North Carolina regardless of class. In both games on Saturday he was absolutely lights out from deep. In the win vs Forsyth Country Day, Boyer finished with 21 Points, 3 Rebounds, 2 Assists, and 1 Steal while shooting 7-10 from deep. With all of his attempts coming from beyond the arc, it's very clear that Boyer and Coach Frank Cantador know what he's out there to do. He's got legit positional size, a pure release from deep, and the ability to initiate offense when needed. No brainer next level talent, will be a big riser in these next rankings updates.
