Logan’s Standout New Faces from Charlie Hughes

The Charlie Hughes Showcase is one of Indiana's premier summer evaluation events, bringing together hundreds of the state's top high school programs and attracting college coaches from every level. While established stars often grab the headlines, every year a new group of players uses this stage to introduce themselves. Whether it was a breakout scoring performance, an expanded role, or simply proving they belong against high-level competition. Here are Logan's Standout New Faces from the Charlie Hughes Showcase who elevated their stock and left a lasting impression over the weekend:    The 2027 Guard for Lawrence Central caught my attention early in the Bears win over Brownsburg. [player_tooltip player_id='2882683' first='Ty' last='Ferguson'] was able to get off to a fast start knocking down two early 3's while also getting a bucket off a basket cut. Confident guard that was able to get open looks off his off ball movement and ability to read screens. Capable playmaker that showed nice court vision on a couple back door cuts from teammates. Solid starter that will plays his role.     One of the more intriguing young prospects I've seen this spring and summer. [player_tooltip player_id='3683834' first='Zane' last='King'], a 6'5” Wing/Forward from Franklin Community that turned a lot of heads with his performance in the Grizzly Cubs win over Heritage Hills on Sunday. Good size and frame with an inside-out skillset. Played with poise and was able to get to his spots on the floor on drives while finishing through contact. Capable three-point shooter off the catch. Showed versatility on the defensive end with his ability to guard all over the floor and stay out of foul trouble. Good rebounder that was excellent running the floor in transition either as an outlet man or pushing the break.     Not necessarily a new face to me but getting his first action on the varsity as an incoming sophomore and there is a lot to like from the 6'5” 2029 Wing/Forward. Active on both ends of the floor with a nice skillset. Has the potential to be a difference maker on the defensive end of the floor. Fluid athlete that really competes when defending. Guards multiple positions. Good rebounder that can push on the break. Offensive hub that has intriguing court vision. Active cutter off the ball with good hands that finishes plays off cuts to the rim.     Smooth left handed guard that's an absolute spark plug on the floor. Left handed lead guard that balances scoring and facilitating. Really comfortable in the pick and roll where he is aggressive coming off and makes the right reads. Showed his confident shooting stroke knocking down a couple from distance in the Bears win over Brownsburg. Hard nosed scrappy defender that's capable of taking over the game with his pressure. Smaller guard that joins a talented backcourt that has a chance to give every team in their schedule problems.     Lengthy guard that was an immediate impact on both ends of the floor in the parts of the game I saw in his team's win over Princeton. Had a short stretch where he completely took over the game on with activity on both ends of the floor. Used his length really well getting back to back steals leading to a fast break bucket for himself and an assist to a teammate. Thrives in transition where he's crafty getting in the lane while also playing with his eyes up and making the right reads to open shooters. Plays with high energy on both ends and was an excellent teammate. Should have a big time year for Harrison (West Lafayette).
