The 2026 Laurel Shootout was another great weekend of basketball. This is my 3rd straight year here for some summer league action and this summer didn't disappoint! Here is a semifinal recap and some standouts from the day!

Anacortes ended up playing BC Bounce 16u in the semi-final beating them smoothly and advancing to the championship game. Lynden Christian's JV team (playing in the varsity bracket) won the other semifinal game in dominant form against Sedro-Woolley.

The championship game was very one-sided with Lynden Christian JV taking home the win by 30+ points against a tough Anacortes team.

[player_tooltip player_id='3466090' first='Grady' last='Kooy'] - LC

Grady was arguably one of the top 5 players on the court all weekend long. He scored from all 3 levels, using his length to adjust through contact in the paint. His smooth lefty shot is elite from the mid-range and long range levels. He plays with a lot of energy too, leaking out in transition often and with ease.

Kylan Houston - Anacortes

Kylan played great all weekend, staying fundamental and being able to get paint touches frequently. He is strong with the ball, handling it well and being able to find his open teammates with ease on the outside. He finishes through contact nicely too and is ready for a solid senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='3027194' first='Grant' last='Adams'] - LC

Grant is a class of 2029 and played great this weekend for the Lyncs. He played valuable minutes and handled the ball strongly all weekend. He attacked the rim with both hands, having great balance and composure. He continues to get better on both ends of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2182848' first='Quincy' last='Tanovan'] - Sehome

Quincy was the main offensive option for the Mariners after having quite a few players graduate from their team last season. Quincy uses his speed well to attack the paint, blowing by defenders and handling the ball smoothly. He has a great mid-range jumper and knocks down the deep shot at a very high percentage. He had over 30 points against Sultan.

Jax McClelland - LC

Jax did a great job all weekend, utilizing his size in the paint nicely. He seals opponents, getting himself open for the post entry pass. He sets great screens too, rolling hard down the paint and using his length to catch passes from his teammates. He protects the paint on the defensive side too, blocking shots with ease.
