Highfill Hoops x Assist invitational 2027 standouts Pt. 2

The First Annual Highfill Hoops x Assist Invitational was a huge success. The event was tailored for prospects looking to get their names out there to college coaches and also get high-level coaching. The one-day event in Richmond, VA, featured some of the top prospects from VA, MD, and NC, with 50 players in total. The event had over 10 college coaches in attendance to evaluate, and overall, many prospects came away with their stock rising.    [player_tooltip player_id='2898030' first='Abram' last='Schrinel'] isn't a new name for most, as he's been a dominant 2-way wing/forward that really came on to the scene last year playing up with Team Loaded. He's known as the perfect glue guy, who can score in the post, handle the ball, and has developed a more consistent jump shot. He was 1st team all-region last year at Freeman High School and was a major reason that they had a historic season. Abram was very impressive at the Highfill Hoops x Assist Invitational, scoring inside, knocking down jumpers, rebounding well, and defending multiple positions. Abram has received a lot of college interest and will continue to be one of the more sought-after wings in VA. He has helped lead Team Loaded to a perfect start to the year, 28-0 on the year thus far. As one of the team captains, he's a big reason they've been successful thus far.     [player_tooltip player_id='2966558' first='Shamir' last='Williams'] is someone I have become more and more impressed with every time I see him play. He came with intensity and displayed his ability to guard other teams' primary players well. He also shot it very well from behind the arc. Shamir will be a key piece for L.C. Bird this year and has been a big part of the Local Legends 17u squad. He is a very talented ball-handler who can be effective on or off the ball, showing he's a talented combo guard. I fully expect him to be a player that college coaches will be on moving forward.     Zackary Draughan is a lightning-quick and efficient scoring guard whom I have known for 2 years now, and I was so impressed with his growth coming into camp. He is a 6'1 Combo guard who attends the elite powerhouse Farmville Central in North Carolina, where he played a major role. Zack plays for the Browns Islanders Pro 16 team, and although he may be a new name for most, he will be an absolute steal for college coaches looking for scoring and athleticism. Zack is also a very good defender and is a pest who loves to pick up full-court. What really stood out to me on Sunday was his ability to secure rebounds and push the ball in transition and create for himself or others, getting downhill.     Seth Green is a player who most may not be familiar with, but he's the perfect wing/guard for Division 3 programs looking for a workhorse and someone who brings length. Seth is known as a knockdown shooter and always seems to make the right reads and right plays for the team. I was very impressed with Seth and how he carried himself. He's a very mature player who plays beyond his years. He averaged around 15 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 3.8 APG, and shot 41% from 3 last season. He will be one that college coaches track, who are looking to add a wing who can light it up from behind the arc.     [player_tooltip player_id='2472280' first='Kiontai' last='Barbour'] is an elite athlete with great length and ability to guard and play multiple positions. He scores well around the rim and excels in the open floor and scoring in transition. He had a strong showing at the event. In one game, he had a double-double performance and seemed to be all over the place defensively, causing steals and deflections. He rebounds very well for size, too, and can secure the rebound and attack in transition and create easy opportunities at the rim. He attends Rise Academy and will be a major piece to their team moving forward as they look to make a run at a state championship. He will be one that college coaches take a look at if they are looking for someone who is versatile offensively and is a good defender.    Final Thoughts    In conclusion, the event showcased some of the top talent in the region, and it's easy to see why so many college coaches were there and raving about the event. The Highfill Hoops staff plans on having another event in September featuring more of the top players to help them prepare for their high school seasons.
