GBCA Live Period: Seckinger vs Centennial Standouts

The Georgia Basketball Coaches Association (GBCA) Live Period always provides an opportunity for players to compete in front of college coaches, and Friday's matchup between Seckinger and Centennial High School l was one I got to sit down for and watch. Both teams competed and have a couple standout players who you can read about below.    Charleston is one of the most athletic guys I saw in the gym all day and has great size that combats that athleticism. On the offensive end he is dangerous with the ball in his hands and can score in a variety of ways. Using his speed and ability to play above the rim he is an elite slashing wing who can score getting down hill with a variety of finishes as well as being a threat to dunk on you if you get in the way. From the perimeter he knocked down a few threes early as well and showed spirts of being a capable outside shooter. Defensively his length, size, and athleticism gives him the capability to guard all 5 positions.     Temple is a scrappy point guard who has gamer written all over him. He provides value on the offensive end with his elite vision in transition along with his ability to organize an offense in the half court. He showed a ton of poise with the ball in his hands and gave Centennials zone a lot to handle. He is an impressive finisher around the rim and has a lot of different finishes on both sides of the basket to get buckets over and around the trees down low. To go along with his slashing ability he is a reliable perimeter scorer as well with a solid jumper that he shoots at a high clip when left open. The kind of prospect that will run the show at the next level and is worth taking a serious look at over the next year.     Fletcher is an athletic post player who immediately stands out because of his size and frame. He is a polished post scorer who finishes just about every time the ball is in his hands downlow. Whether its catching dump off passes for easy dunks or creating his own with back to the basket moves. He puts a ton of interior pressure on opposing defenses and garners a lot of attention. Fletcher is a hand full to keep off the offensive glass as well and creates a ton of extra possessions just by being in the game. Defensively he checks a lot of boxes as well with his ability to move his feet and block shots in the lane.     Lister shot the cover off of the ball this afternoon knocking down six three pointers at a scorching hot clip. He has a lightning quick release with super deep range that makes him a threat from anywhere on the court. If you don't have a hand up on the catch he will put one in your eye before you have time to react. He showed spirts of a dribble drive game as well, he attacked closeouts and played off two in the lane while also making some nice inside out passes. Lister has a crafty floater that gets a lot of air and drops in at a high rate as well. He is definitely one of the best shooters in the Atlanta area and after a season ending injury last season, he looks to make a big statement in his senior campaign for the Knights.     Bellamy is a scrappy lead guard who runs the show for Centennial at the point guard position. He gets to the basket relentlessly with his speed and first step along with his tight handle, leaving defenders in the rearview mirror. He finishes effectively in the lane playing off two or changing angles mid air to finish over taller defenders. Bellamy is improving a lot from game to game as a passer as well, today he had several big time dimes to some of the Knights bigs hanging around the basket. Bellamy is definitely the type of guard who can lead a program and be an all-region caliber player.     Galloway is one of the more intriguing prospects in the class of 2028. For the Knights last year in his sophomore year he led the team in most statistical categories and impacts the game in a lot of ways. Galloway started off slow this afternoon but after a couple nice moves to the cup he picked it up and put a lot of the scoring load on his back. The length of a high level college player makes him a capable defender of most positions on the floor and a relentless finisher around the basket. He scored getting to the cup and finishing above the rim while also flying down the floor in transition. The only question surrounding Galloway is his consistent motor and intensity, but when he plays with heart he is one of the best players on any floor. This is a guy that if I would put on my 2028 board if I were college coaches     Mitchell is a freshman who is getting his first look at varsity basketball this summer. A guy who has an extremely high motor and does a lot to contribute to winning just based off the effort he puts forward. Today he dominated on the offensive glass early providing a lot of easy second chance looks for the Knights as well as cleaning up some misses himself by scoring. He is versatile and can play both on the perimeter as well as down in the lane. He can score it at a high level getting to the rim with ease and using his strength to absorb contact. He has a ton of raw talent and with his length and athleticism I expect him to be a name that emerges over the next four years.
