DMV Live S1 has come to a close and there was no shortage of evaluations, team takeaways and prospects who took advantage of the stage to boost their stock. I move on to the Virginia 2027 prospects who were topics of conversation along the sidelines.

For the 2027 MD prospects who fit this mold, click here.

For the 2027 VA prospects who had my attention, click here.

Moore's game has steadily improved over the last 12 months and it all stems with his ability to get a bucket on demand. The 6-foot-2 combo guard can tap into his quick-twitch operating in isolations to gain advantages on driving lanes to the hoop where he's able to finish layups on tough angles or stop on a dime and knock down mid-range jumpers with regularity. If you're not familiar with Moore's game, the shots he makes can come off as difficult or 'settling' for tough ones, but that's been his m.o. since he entered high school. This weekend was no different as he helped engineer McDonogh to 2-0 behind 21PPG, 5RPG and 2.5APG. The blemish, if asked to point one out from his showing, was his shooting from deep.

Etolue's decision to reclass to 2028 while transferring to Mt. Zion Prep should do wonders for his recruitment. He was already considered a Division I prospect, but the extra year and continued signs of improvement that he's shown with [program_tooltip program_id='2077004' first='Team' last='Takeover'] and this weekend could have MM's join the party. He closed the weekend helping Mt. Zion go 2-2 while averaging 12.8PPG, 7.8RPG and 2.3APG all while throwing down some impressive dunks along the way.

The other piece of this Eagles backcourt is Costley, another prospect out of the Owings Mills school who has drastically improved since the change in the calendar year. Costley has quickly turned into a dependable point guard for head coach Gerry Abrams and has his trust to maintain ball security through pressure while commanding pace, spreading the ball around as a distributor and being able to keep the defense honest with his own scoring prowess. His best outing came in the win over West Nottingham where he recorded a double-double of 20PTS, 10REBS and 4STLS.

With Skipworth making the move to Montverde (FL), Avery automatically slides in as the No. 1 ranked prospect with [player_tooltip player_id='2524394' first='Kareem' last='Smith-Bey'] closing the gap closely. It'll be a tough call when the updated rankings drop next month, but Avery was his usual self flashing his supreme athleticism above the rim offensively this past weekend. Combine the seniors lost from last year's team as well as [player_tooltip player_id='2273134' first='Braxton' last='Bogard'] transferring to a destination that is TBD, all signs point to Avery being the guy if Spalding wants to make a run in the BCL/MIAA. The 6-foot-8 forward averaging 14.8PPG, 7.0RPG and 2.5BPG as the Cavaliers went 1-3 overall. It was good seeing Avery be a rim presence defensively as he has all the tools to be an elite shot disruptor when he wants to be engaged at that end.

Georgetown Prep left DeMatha unscathed as they've transitioned their hot end to the 2025-26 season that ended with an IAC title into their summer play. Pierre-Louis fits the mold as an intriguing hybrid forward that you look at with a long-term lens. He's got positional size, soft touch that extends beyond the arc and the tools to be an impactful defender at the collegiate level with time. For now, he's another weapon for the Little Hoyas and plays well next to their two guards who establish paint touches. He seems to always be in the corner at the right time for kick outs and over the past six months has turned himself into a guy the defense must account for. For proof, he converted 47 percent of his 15 attempts from deep in S1 and boasted 13.5PPG, 6.0RPG and 1.5APG.
