I attended three different events during the first scholastic live period session to try and see as many of the local teams play as possible in a big weekend for college recruitment. In this article we will focus on the top local wing and forward prospects that I saw at DC Live at Sidwell Friends in Washington DC this past weekend. Let's dive in!

-The production somehow wasn't as loud as his on-court impact in a near double-double performance in a good win over SP. Taylor's jump shooting motioned has smoothed out and become much more consistent, which was arguably his biggest swing skill as a strong 2-way wing that plays incredibly hard. Taylor hit movement 3s, threw down a rim-rattling putback in traffic, hit the offensive glass to close out a few big possessions late in the game, and was very active on the back line of SJC's ball pressure-heavy schemes. Loved his assertive play in a matchup with team that prides itself on its physicality.

-Shime might be due for a major bump in our next set of rankings updates if he makes production like we saw this weekend a regular occurence. Shime is a dual sport athlete (football) that can space the floor with his shooting beyond the arc (3/3 vs Sidwell), finish above the rim, and utilize a much-improved bag of pivot/finishing moves to get to the rim. The duality and diversity of his skillset on the wings could spell a bigger role this season for a talented young Gonzaga team that needs to replace graduating depth on the wings in order to chase a WCAC championship.

-Man oh man. What a shooting display from the high-academic recruit as Mahan came through in a big way for Jackson Reed in a win over Carroll. Mahan scored 18 points over the final ~4 minutes of the game as a movement shooter that is pretty automatic when he's in rhythm. Love the physicality, slashing, and rebounding that he brings when the jumper isn't falling as a high floor prospect that doesn't need actions run for him to score effectively within the flow of the game.

-One of the most joyful teammates that I've evaluated over the years, Mbuyamba matches the intangibles with production as a high-IQ forward that keeps the game simple. Mbuyamba flashed his passing skill from both the elbows and from the low block as a willing passer that can execute designed reads to cutters or kick-outs to teammates before the double team arrives to create a high-percentage look. He uses his strength (also a 2 sport player, football) to carve out space around the rim to finish with his dominant left hand and has improved his touch from both the FT line and the low block. He came up with several key defensive stops to force TOs along the sideline or shot clock violations that gave Gonzaga some much-needed extra possessions late in the game.

-Condon's torrid play continues even without his starting PG as he showcased his duality as a 3/4 tweener that contributes in several different areas that lead to a winning brand of basketball. Condon knocked down a sidestep three OTB, hit several pick n pop jumpers, posted up and scored over smaller matchups or guards when the Quakers got the 1/4 switch, and was an active helper at the defensive end to block one shot and affect several more looks around the rim. His box-out's and screens are both consistently physical and well-timed to help contribute to an efficient offense.

-Tchueffa really battled in a good matchup against a 3-man frontcourt rotation for SP as the lone big for the Colts. Tchueffa served as a good PnR/ dump-off threat around the rim, his hands have improved to come up with some tough catches in traffic, and he gives Coolidge a tough 2-way physical presence that sets screens effectively to create some separation for the shooters and drivers on this team. Love the motor and consistency that he gives his team because he plays within himself while he takes care of the dirty work.
