June 4th-6th I attended the annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational. It is the premier warm up event for the prestigious Section-7 with 20 Section-7 weekend teams plus others who have a chance to qualify for the weekend.

I watched every team 2-3 times and came up with many different categories to place each prospect.

Here were the Two-Way Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2276245' first='Nizir' last='Cannady'] AZ Compass Prep

A quick on quick pure point guard can guide the roster to a T. The ball is on a string for him and he will make some plays for his teammates. He is scoring the ball more as he ages with pull-ups from mid-range and threes off the catch. His quickness is felt on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2295695' first='Matt' last='Crowder'] Casteel

A two-way guard with some athleticism and length. He can score it with threes off the catch, mid-range fade aways and long euro steps. He will get trips to the free throw line and rebounds well. He defends multiple positions. The senior will be one of their top players.

[player_tooltip player_id='2641713' first='Jayden' last='Davis'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A two-way guard is one of the better on-ball defenders on the team. He has good size, length and twitch to keep his opponents in front of him and make it hard to score on him. He will score with euro steps with a fluid handle, scores it inside with layups and hit the three off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532089' first='Darren' last='Ford'] AZ Compass Prep (Pictured)

A newcomer is a strong true two-way guard who will defend on the ball, facilitate and score. He is a well rounded player and will fill it up with deep threes, mid-range pull-ups, contact finishes with plus body control and loves using the floater. He will have a breakout season in the EYBL Scholastic season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2332290' first='Amir' last='Kendrick'] Chavez

A tough and bigger scoring point guard will throw it up the court to facilitate and defend with good quickness. He scores with rip thrus, he uses polished floater game, offensive rebound put backs and can get very hot from the three point line off the catch or pull.

[player_tooltip player_id='3150619' first='Jasiah' last='Lloyd'] Carl Hayden

One of the top on-ball defenders in the junior class. He is very fast, tough and has super quick feet laterally. He may have averaged 3+ steals and I watched one game he swiped five. He will score with threes off the catch, downhill quick bursts and layups in traffic. He is also a better passer then he gets credited with.

[player_tooltip player_id='2107225' first='Mike' last='McIntyre'] Higley

A long and strong power forward who is a defensive type. He rebounds at a high rate and will block shots. He scores it with hook shots, offensive rebound put backs and he handles it decently to create his own offense. He should have a big year for the Knights.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407207' first='Malachi' last='Mims'] Pinnacle

A tough two-way guard can play a little on or off the ball. He is very tough and strong on the ball defensively with his his quick hands and feet. He will make some plays with drive and kicks and score it with downhill takes putting pressure on the defense and catch threes as he can get hot in stretches.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146266' first='Douglas' last='Sweatt'] Mesa

One of the tougher guards in the class has a grown a little and his skill is polishing up. He is very physical and will almost fight you up the court on defense. He will score with floaters, mid-range jumpers, threes and uses the pick and roll action and will find the roller perfectly. He rebounds well for a PG and brings his hard hat to every game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552772' first='Tre' last='Terry'] Basha

A bigger guard seems to grow by the month. His skill keeps improving with high level mid-range pull-ups, he will score with cuts off the ball, mid-range fall aways, deep threes with plus elevation and defends nearly every position on the court with his toughness and length.
