June 4th-6th I attended the annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational. It is the premier warm up event for the prestigious Section-7 with 20 Section-7 weekend teams plus others who have a chance to qualify for the weekend.

I watched every team 2-3 times and came up with many different categories to place each prospect.

Here were the Top Scorers

[player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'] Highland (Pictured)

A fearless scoring lead guard who fills it up with the best of them. He will rattle in threes with deep range, he is quick getting downhill with a burst of speed and has a tough mid-range pull-up. He will play off of the pick and roll game and find the cutter with some next level court vision and drive and kicks. He is also quick on the ball to collect steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2330556' first='Noah' last='Garven'] Mesquite

A breakout candidate for the Wildcats is definitely Garven. He showed flashes last year but will be very hard to cover this season. He will score it every way with catch threes with range, bursts to the basket, floaters, downhill with his size and quick spin moves in the lane. He is a smart extra passer and is in line for a huge year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2855983' first='Kairo' last='Hamilton'] Carl Hayden

A tough scoring combo guard plays on or off the ball. He can make a play but prefers to put the ball in the basket. He loves the mid-range pull-up off the dribble and he will hit the three off the catch or pull. He is quick in transition and competitive.

[player_tooltip player_id='2251690' first='Innocent' last='Onwo'] Mesa

A physical framed scoring guard is a tough handle. He scores it with downhill takes with dominant left hand, mid-range pull-ups, threes off the catch, driving layups and will rebond in heavy traffic. When he gets in a rhythm he will score it quickly from mid to the three or get fouled.

[player_tooltip player_id='2156657' first='Liam' last='Pavey'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A bigger combo guard waited his turn and you are seeing him breakout before your eyes. He will score with a super quick release on his threes, he has a deceptively quick first step and he can pull-up. He is a good on-ball defender and a very smart passer in transition seeing the court quickly. He will collect steals and lay it in or find a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2466706' first='Mehki' last='Storkel'] Desert Edge

A bigger guard who plays some on the ball but is best off of it. He is gaining confidence to score the ball with his sharp mid-range pull-up he likes to use off the dribble with plus elevation. He will score with offensive rebound put backs and takes contact well with his size and frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='2625965' first='Kaii' last='Voogd'] AZ Compass Prep

A bigger scoring guard with high skill level and athleticism. He will score it from all levels with fall aways from mid-range, threes off the catch coming with some range, athletic takes to the basket and will finish it off with his bounce and length.
