BIBSI Undersized Gems

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>June 4th-6th I attended the annual&nbsp;<strong>Best in Basketball Summer Invitational.</strong>&nbsp;It is the premier warm up event for the prestigious Section-7 with 20 Section-7 weekend teams plus others who have a chance to qualify for the weekend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I watched every team 2-3 times and came up with many different categories to place each prospect.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the Undersized Gems</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3259747' first='DJ' last='Charles'] Canyon View&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A pure point guard is undersized but he can score with deep threes off the dribble, mid-range pull-ups, quick jets to the basket with his tight handle and is a very good passer with some impressive bail out passes. He can make some big shots during stretches of the game.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2772309' first='Drew' last='Copple'] Highland&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile wing forward who can score it from inside and out. He can step out and shoot the three off the catch but then work down low and score it in heavy traffic. He can also get downhill with left or right hand and rebound the ball well.&nbsp;He will breakout this season. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2990149' first='Jaylan' last='Knight'] Tucson&nbsp;(Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A fast and very shifty pure point guard with real quickness. He can get to nearly any spot he wants with his yo-yo handle and speed with the ball. He will score it with triples, mid-range pull-ups and get to the basket. He will also collect steals and block shots.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2674718' first='Ashton' last='Ries'] Seton Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A power forward who is tough to score it inside. He plays with his back to the basket and will seal his man and gain positon to score. He has quick moves with reverse layups and will also work from the high post and rip thru or make a play for a teammate. He is a very good rebounder in his area to score it off the glass.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2552792' first='Mason' last='Tamlyn'] Valley Christian</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A tough real point guard brings some speed to the court with a very quick first step. He likes to get downhill with his speed and handle and will finish off some tough shots in the lane versus bigger guards and forwards. He is also quick on the ball defensively.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2574799' first='Quinton' last='Tillmon III'] Westview&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A quick and fast undersized scoring point guard, He plays with good pace, speed and skill. He uses a fast burst and quick first spot to get to the basket and finish off tough shots at the rim. He has speed to burn in the open court and he will make some plays for his teammates.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3662785' first='Charles' last='Wamacho'] Westview</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A power forward with great length and fluidity. He covers a lot of ground in space and will rebound, run the floor, defend multiple positions and block shots. He will score inside despite his size but uses his long arms to corral rebounds and score. He will occasionally step out and hit the three. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
