Prospects who jumped onto the 2030 Watch List

This is the first look at the 2030 class, and it looks like it has the makings to be a special class. There are going to be young players that get varsity minutes already as a freshman, and others that we saw in our first two tourneys to start the Spring who are worth keeping an eye on. You don't want to miss any of our scouting.     Bernstein is a player we instantly added to the watch list after watching him, as he has a very mature game, and we feel it could translate. He looked one step ahead at our event to start the Spring and the game slowed down for him. He had a ton of transition baskets, attacked 1-on-1 situations, and understands angles, which he used to get to the rim. Once the game opened up, he played with composure and made smart decisions in space. There's a steadiness to the way he plays that stands out, and the court awareness is evident. He lit it up with easy baskets and is a microwave scorer and a name we added to the list, but certainly want to see more of.     Sun is a connector for that B&B Academy squad, and we saw that as he was a standout at an event this Spring. He has excellent awareness, he seems to be involved in every play, and he doesn't have to have the ball to be effective. I liked watching how he made reads defensively as he quickly rotates on defense, steps over in help side, and baited guards into bad passes for scoring opportunities the other way. We also got to see him go on a couple of mini runs where the ball is flowing, he cuts to the open spots, and stays shot-ready. He's a versatile player who I definitely want to get more eyes on this summer.     We got to see Fuentes at Rocky Mountain Mayhem to start out Spring, and the big man naturally grabbed our attention with his ability to affect the game in various ways. He was a force on the glass, which got him easy baskets as he grabbed boards out of his area and went right back up, and if he got an open look, he let it fly as well. Fuentez knocked down a few mid-range shots, he uses his body well on the block, and he's a creative finisher down low. They got him the ball at the block and he hit cutters for easy baskets. He kicked it back out or he had some back-to-the-basket finishes. He's still putting the full package together, but there are enough flashes to warrant being on the watch list as we're curious to see how he looks moving forward.     Gehringer is a player who we watched and liked from [program_tooltip program_id='2378749' first='Colorado' last='Lightning'], as he consistently showed up in games to start out Spring ball. He showed that he could be effective without having the ball, didn't need the offense centered around him, and still made winning plays. Jordan has a great feel and does the little things for his team. He's cutting, rebounding hard, and turning broken plays into scoring opportunities. He had his moments scoring the bal,l but it was the way he just continued to pop that has him as a player to get eyes on moving forward.     Elder is a sleeper in this class, and I feel that when it all comes together, he has a chance to really make his mark. He emerged as one of the more productive all-around players to start the Spring because of the way that he impacts every phase of the game. He's a two-way standout who had a few pokes that got him transition buckets, he got put onto the top player to slow them down, and when he got the ball, things came easily for him. He finishes well around length, went on a few mini runs that got his team a lead, and knocked down the 3-ball when it was presented for him. He looks comfortable navigating the court as a guard, and he's still scratching the surface physically, which makes the upside even more interesting. He easily made our watch list.     Valdez is a player who I feel will be able to see JV and maybe even varsity time as a freshman with the way that he composed himself at the Centennial State Cup. He's valuable and a dog defender who doesn't allow any opposing guard to get comfortable. He plays off the ball, can handle ball handling duty when he has to, and pressure doesn't slow him down. He found openings for teammates, created for himself, scored, and was efficient. He wants to get downhill and to his spots, and we saw that with some easy scoop layups. His attention to detail and instincts make him a young player worth getting a deeper look at, and I feel he will be a player we continue to see have solid outings. He's definitely a name to watch moving forward.
