PH Iowa Open: Saturday Morning 14U Standouts

Boschee jumped out immediately for [program_tooltip program_id='2221115' first='Midwest' last='Kings'] in their blowout win over the Iowa Cornsharks. A supremely confident shooter with a quick release off the catch, he does a great job finding open spaces with off-ball movement to get his shot off. He gets great rotation on his jumper, has range well beyond the high school line, and if he has his feet set on the catch, he's seemingly automatic. He knocked down seven 3-pointers on Saturday morning, and I think only one of them even grazed the rim.     Eveland is a quick, athletic guard who likes to play downhill and use his speed to attack the rim, both in transition and in the halfcourt. He embraces contact around the bucket, finishing through it with authority, and he's an explosive athlete who can already get up to rim level on his finishes while being listed at just 5-9. He's good in the mid-range, getting to his spots and elevating into his jumper, getting the ball into his shooting pocket quickly off the dribble.     Collier is a mobile young big man who runs the floor hard, is extremely active on the glass on both ends of the floor, and he has really good hands. At this level, he's a defensive dynamo who can defend multiple positions, holding his own against smaller guards on the perimeter and blocking shots at a high rate around the bucket. He showed some ability to face up and attack the rim off the dribble, and he finishes well through contact. He was dominant on both ends of the floor for the [program_tooltip program_id='2221115' first='Midwest' last='Kings'] in their blowout win.     Another really confident shooting threat for the [program_tooltip program_id='2221115' first='Midwest' last='Kings'], Cain is a 5-11 guard who can operate with or without the ball in his hands. He gets good elevation and rotation on his shot, and does a great job using off-ball screens to free himself up for good looks. He has a quick release off the catch, showed some ability to shoot it off the bounce, and uses his length to impact the game defensively.     Van Roekel is small, but he's fearless and does a great job using his speed to his advantage. He doesn't shy away from contact on his drives and has a nice floater that he uses to finish over bigger defenders. He's a confident shooter, especially off the catch, with a quick release.     Bombela was a menace on both ends of the floor in NEXT Level's blowout win over Pure Point on Saturday morning. A 6-1/6-2 wing with long arms, he's an active defender who does a nice job utilizing his length to his advantage on that end of the floor. He routinely got his hands on passes, getting a number of deflections that led to runouts for his team. He finishes well at the rim through contact and can knock down shots from the mid-range with consistency.     Weiland is an intriguing young big man to keep an eye on, especially if he keeps growing. He has a really nice frame to continue to add strength to, long arms, and he handles it well for a young big man. He showed good vision and passing instincts out of the high post, allowing the offense to flow through him at times.     Kuper is an intelligent off-ball guard who moves well without the ball in his hands to find spaces in the defense to get his shot off. He's a solid secondary playmaker and ball-handler who can set his teammates up, and on the defensive end he's a good on-ball defender who moves his feet and contests shots well.
