PH Indiana State Tournament | Logan’s Friday Standouts Pt. 2

The Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament tipped off Friday with talent from across the state on full display. From breakout performances to stars delivering in big moments, several players elevated their game when it mattered most. Here's a look at Part 2 of Logan's Friday Night Standouts from an action-packed opening night:    One of the most impactful games I got the chance to see on Friday Night at the Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament. 6'6” Forward [player_tooltip player_id='2416697' first='Joel' last='Bechtel'] was able to make big time plays on both ends of floor to help lead his team to win. Was able to use his length and athleticism to his advantage around the basket as a rebounder and shot blocker. Did a good job playing vertical and staying out of foul trouble. Offensively he showed an intriguing inside-out game. Soft touch with good footwork around the basket while showing his ability to put it on the floor and make a play for others.     Another impact guard coming up the ranks at Fishers, [player_tooltip player_id='3640918' first='Roman' last='Castelli'] impresses me every time I see him. The smooth left handed guard is all IQ and skill on the floor. He's not the quickest or most athletic player, but he always gets the job done. Impressive offensive talent that is true point guard with really good court vision. He's a tempo pushing guard that loves the advance pass to open teammates. He's excellent in the pick and roll with his ability to make any pass on the floor as well as being a threat to score when the defense goes under ball screens.     In the parts of the game I got to see of his, [player_tooltip player_id='3656007' first='Santos' last='Cruz Jr'] continuously made plays with the ball in his hands. Saw him get downhill countless times and showed unselfish playmaking ability by balancing scoring and facilitating. Guard with a good frame that plays with a high motor and high IQ. Interesting player to keep an eye on throughout the next few years.     Talented offensive guard that kept his team in the game early with his outside shooting. Smaller guard that uses his quickness to his advantage well. Got in the lane early and often and was able to finish among the taller players with a nice floater. Had a stretch in the first half where he knocked down a 3 off the dribble, got a steal and a bucket in transition, and following it up with another steal and a 3. Absolute peat defensively that was able to pressure full court. Active hands wreaked havoc on the opposition.     The unsigned senior out of Cardinal Ritter (IN) was getting to any spot on the floor that he wanted on Friday night for IMCA. Quick first step and a guard that welcomes contact and played through it well finished at the rim all night. No wasted movements. Caught the ball on the wing and ripped through and was going. Scored efficiently in the midrange rising up over defenders multiple times in the second half when he really got going. Defensively he's capable of guarding multiple positions due to his strength. When he's engaged, he can truly be a difference maker on the defensive end of the floor.
