Believe it or not, June basketball is just right around the corner which means we will be right back into high school play as summer kicks off. Spring AAU is wrapping up, and that means we look ahead to June where we will see our in-state prospects get back with their respective high school squads for a full month. For the week, we will look at some players for each class and position group as I give you my personal watch list for the month of June. Of course, every player we have in the state is a must-watch, but here are five players in the 2029 class that you should focus on just a little bit more, part one.

One of the few players in the Indiana Class of 2029 watch list that got true varsity experience this past season is [player_tooltip player_id='2955304' first='Ryan' last='Gold Jr']. of Cathedral High School. With that time he got at the varsity level, he parlayed that into a really strong spring AAU season with [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] 2029 EYBL. Gold is a 6'0 point guard that plays at a controlled pace and can make sharp decisions on the ball. Right now he an extremely balanced player that can score in many ways as well as being that facilitator.

Down in southern Indiana at Floyd Central High School is a backcourt prospect with a lot of upside to his game. [player_tooltip player_id='2967107' first='Wyatt' last='Wilkins'] has had a really strong spring with Progeny this spring showing flashes of his playmaking both on and off the ball. He is a longer two-guard that is a natural scorer while being a pesky on-ball defender, as well. He is under-the-radar right now, but one to keep an eye on in June.

A long, versatile wing that we at Prep Hoops Indiana are high on is [player_tooltip player_id='2617851' first='Ashton' last='Brobston']. At 6'6. Brobston is a confident three-point shooter with the ability to put it on the floor and create. He often times takes advantage of the mismatches against smaller perimeter defenders being able to get to the rim or find space for a jump shot. Get eyes on him this summer from Frankton High School.

Hampton is a forward that we have been high on even before played a single varsity game for Evansville Bosse, so it was not a hard decision to name him as a player to watch here. This summer, Hampton is expected to make a big jump as his role with the Bulldogs increases from being a role player, to a first or second option at times. He is a 6'6 power forward that has some sneaky athleticism and bounce to his game. Hampton has the ability to stretch the floor while also using his size and length well around the basket when mismatches present themselves.

Up in the northern part of the state at Gary West High School is 6'7 center [player_tooltip player_id='3033269' first='Prentiss' last='Gates']. Gates is another 2029 prospect that expected to make a big leap this summer as his role for Gary West increases. He is an elite rim protector that takes a lot of pride on being one of the best defenders on the floor at all times. He is also very strong as a above the rim finisher, as well. A big man to keep an eye on.
