The guard play was front and center at the Big Shots Myrtle Beach Jam, with multiple backcourt prospects taking control of games throughout the day. From shot-making to playmaking, these guards consistently made winning plays and set the tone for their teams. Here's a look at the game-changing guards who stood out.

First up on my list of game-changing guards from the Big Shots Myrtle Beach Jam is [player_tooltip player_id='1714850' first='Melachi' last='Singleton']. There are several talented players in the Raptors 2027 group, so it is Singleton's job to bring the ball up and get it in the right places. He did just that in a big win over [program_tooltip program_id='2078725' first='Carolina' last='Storm'] on Saturday, racking up 4 assists to go with 8 points and 3 steals with 8:00 left before I had to jump to another game. Not only was his offensive playmaking on display, but Melachi also made winning plays defensively as he moved his feet to contain the ball, had active hands in help and full-court pressure, and got on the floor for loose balls.

Juel is another Charleston-area guard who caught my eye in Myrtle Beach. He averaged 21.5 PPG between two games on Saturday, aggressively looking to find his shots and put pressure on the opposing defense. Mack's consistent ability to beat his man off the dribble and get into the paint was one of the things that most moved me. However, he's just as good finishing with either hand or pulling up for floaters and jumpers when he does get there. The [program_tooltip program_id='3143950' first='ChuckTown' last='Elite'] squad has a couple of really strong players, so they should be a target for local D3s and NAIAs during the live period.

One of the best players on the 16U Slam Champions was [player_tooltip player_id='2856552' first='Rock' last='Govan']. Govan is in the 2027 class but has yet to turn 17, so he runs with [program_tooltip program_id='2298066' first='The' last='Private Snipaz'] and had a huge weekend at the Big Shots event. Rock's 23-point game one really had the people talking on Saturday, as he had tough bucket after tough bucket to help boost his squad to a win over District 5 Premier. Govan finished 5th in total points in his division, and his crafty handle and ability to play through contact in attack mode are what gave him so much success.

Leith also stood out with his scoring ability on day one. He had 22 points, all on two-point field goals, in a round one win. Ayden was so consistent and efficient in getting to the rim and finishing there, so there was no need for any other part of his scoring arsenal, and his size and strength were huge factors in that success. Leith was able to use and reject screens when starting with the ball, but he also had some off-ball actions run for him to get him going early in the game. Keep an eye on Ayden as he finishes up the spring and gets back to school ball in June.

Rounding out the group of game-changing guards is [player_tooltip player_id='3629172' first='Dylan' last='Tasca']. Tasca lined up against Leith and the Pride in Myrtle Beach, and he showed some really good things in my first look at him. He has had some big scoring games in March and April, and is a name to know in SCISA next season, and the offensive package is exactly what caught my eye. Dylan is an effective shooter on the perimeter and can get to the rim, so the balanced attack gave the opponents some trouble despite the loss.
