The rising juniors did their thing on Saturday. Here are five who made waves:

Rather than max out in one facet of the game, Gilhool contributed across several. He moved the ball well for someone his size, serving as the passer in high-low actions and swinging the ball to shooters. Gilhool also put up a few points of his own by cleaning the glass, going to work in the low post, and draining a pull-up three. Most of all, he got active on defensive, around the basket and in space. The lanky forward hit “return to sender” on a couple shots and forced turnovers. 9p 8r 3a 2s 2b

[player_tooltip player_id='2628235' first='King' last='Josiah Hamilton'] | 6'6 [program_tooltip program_id='2078697' first='Philly' last='Pride'] UAA

An absolute ball of physical and emotional energy, Hamilton gave his team a boost whenever he made a big play. They got him going on the first three possessions with quick touches in the post. Hamilton was even more difficult to contain on-the-go. He sliced to the hoop for layups off-the-catch and detonated at the rim with fastbreak dunks. His versatility on both ends allowed him to impact the game whether he was scoring or not. 18p 7r 1s

[player_tooltip player_id='3651187' first='Kevin' last='Norris III'] | G 6'1 WeR1 UAA

A microwave scorer, Norris III made big shots and big plays while filling in on the 17U team on Saturday. With a tween cross, he buried his first three, then hit a second while spotting-up. Norris III created transition opportunities as well, stealing the ball or rebounding in traffic and laying it up before the defense could get set. He hit a third triple and got key stops on defense late to secure the win. 15p 7r 3a 3s

[player_tooltip player_id='2876205' first='James' last='Walker'] | G 6'0 DC Assault P32

Walker didn't get the start, but he was immediately in-rhythm once he came in. After seeing the ball go through the net on a fastbreak layup, he began capitalizing on tilted defenses with plays off of closeouts. His feel for the game allowed him to find opportunities to score, whether he was cutting, attacking on the move, or hunting missed shots off of the glass. And he knocked down a three for good measure. 16p 5r

[player_tooltip player_id='2504902' first='Jamieson' last='Young'] | G 6'0 WeR1 UAA

Playing up on the 17U squad, Young's floor spacing neutralized their opponent's glaring height advantage. The Cherry Hill-native drilled SIX threes off the bench. His three makes and nine points in the first half weren't enough. He followed that up in the second with drives to the cup where he lofted the ball up over outstretched arms for two-pointers. In between that, Young hit a pound-dribble pull-up for his fifth three and got loose on an out-of-bounds play for his sixth. 24p
