Josiah Hamilton combines elite length, impressive athleticism, and a nonstop motor, giving him the physical tools to make an impact on both ends of the floor. As of recent, Hamilton has strung together a number of bright moments that continue to highlight the noticeable growth and confidence in a lot of his overall guard skills— looking noticeably more comfortable making quick decisions when attacking closeouts, showing improved feel for selecting driving angles and finishing through contact and traffic around the rim, knocking down perimeter shots off the catch, and handling the ball effectively in the open floor to push the break in transition.
A prospect who looks to be really putting things together and refining his overall skillset, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see college programs show interest in the combination of Hamilton’s physical tools and budding skillset.

When his team faced Crown MHC, Hamilton repeatedly made explosive and acrobatic plays. He instinctively pushed the ball off of defensive boards, stressing the transition defense and, in one instance, going all the way for a coast-to-coast slam. The big wing generated other fastbreak points too, particularly by outrunning everyone else when his team got a stop.

immediately stood out with his ability to be disruptive and versatile defensively with his length and lateral quickness, using his lengthy arms to force deflections and alter shot attempts around the basket. As the weekend wained Hamilton also continued to showcase the growth and development in his overall guard skills— making quick decisions off closeouts to attack driving angles off the bounce and even absorbing contact to generate additional offense at the FT line while also realizing the right moments to keep the ball moving and pushing the break and handling it with comfort in transition as a result of defensive stops as well.

has always had the physical tools to provide an instant impact however if this past weekend’s showing is a sign of things to come, Hamilton might actually be starting to put it all together. With a clear increased growth and confidence in his overall guard skills, Hamilton looked more comfortable attacking closeouts and certain driving angles paired with using strong footwork to get to the basket, knocking down outside shots off the catch, and handling the ball in the open floor to push the break in transition and finish on the other end in traffic.

Hamilton is built to impact a camp setting with his dynamic length and athleticism in the open floor, and he impressed by sticking to his strengths and showcasing useful instincts across the floor game in the process. The Canadian wing had his motor running on hot, streaking out in transition or crashing the glass for explosive finishes. The flashes Hamilton showed as a jump shooter will be key to monitor moving forward as he continues developing into a more well-rounded wing for the next level.

What stood out to me most about Hamilton on Sunday was simply how hard he played. There were maybe 3-to-4 other players who matched his effort and intensity on both ends and each of those players stood out among the rest. Add the fact that Hamilton is a 6-foot-6 Swiss army knife and poses as a scoring threat from all three levels on the floor and it resulted in impact performances for his squad. His athleticism shined bright in the open floor where he finished above the rim with authority. He constantly switched defensively and did so with competence and that competitive edge that he brought spread throughout those he shared the court with. Hamilton is just scratching the surface of who can become.
