2027 Rankings Update: Top 10 Newcomers

Sharpe has good size at 6-7/6-8, the type of size that is rare within Iowa high school basketball. He's a mobile big man who can run the floor and finish effectively around the rim with either hand. After a solid junior campaign in which he averaged 5.1 points and 2.4 rebounds a game, expect him to become a bigger part of the Bulldogs attack on both ends of the floor in his senior season.     Tucker largely came off the bench for the Rams in his junior year, providing them with good playmaking and solid on-ball defense. He posted a 2.35 assist-to-turnover ratio and averaged a steal per game. Following the graduations of the Rams top three scorers, expect Tucker to become a much bigger part of the puzzle in his senior year.     Mutombo was great for the Crusaders after becoming eligible following his transfer from Sioux City East, averaging 9.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists on 59% shooting in the final 11 games. A skilled big body that the offense can play through, he has soft hands, good footwork, and deft touch around the rim. He's a bit undersized for a traditional big man, but he's strong, physical, and handles it well.     An off-ball guard who can score from all three levels, Wobschall averaged 9.6 points per game as a junior for the Cardinals. He can create shots off the dribble for himself and knock down shots off the catch, shooting just under 35% from the 3-point line.     Junius didn't put up big numbers for the 2A champion Knights - 2.6 points, 1.3 rebounds - but the 6-1 guard impressed during the state tournament, coming off the bench to play high-level defense. He's a bouncy, explosive athlete who moves his feet well and uses his length to impact the game on that end of the floor. Following the graduations of three of the top five scorers from last year's team, expect to see him step into a much larger role as a senior.     Neighbor is a quality perimeter shooting threat who knocked down over 40% of his 3-point attempts as a junior for the Cougars. In addition to his shooting prowess, he's also a solid on-ball defender with good lateral movement and quick hands. He averaged 6.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per game last season.     Mitchell was great for a very young and inexperienced Jaguars team as a junior, averaging 10.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game on 55% shooting. A 6-5 big man with good touch around the bucket, he also showed some ability to step out and space the floor, shooting 45% from behind the arc, albeit on limited (29) attempts.     Peterson is a big, physical center who was the anchor of the best defensive team in Class 1A as a junior, averaging 10.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks on 70% shooting. He's a great communicator on the defensive end who uses his size and strength to his advantage.     A 6-2 wing who can play with or without the ball in his hands, Werner averaged 12.0 points per game on 40% shooting for the Bluejays. He's a bit streaky as a shooter (32% from 3), but he can bury shots off both the dribble and the catch.     A steady lead guard who limits mistakes and can control the game with the ball in his hands on the offensive end, Perkins posted a 2.53 assist-to-turnover ratio in his junior year. On a team loaded with scoring threats, he wasn't asked to do much of that last season, but he's capable of getting downhill and attacking the rim off the dribble.
