15’s Watchlist: Battle At The Lakes

Battle At The Lakes returns this weekend in Minnesota and once again features some of the top competition on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Every year, the event showcases talented programs, highly competitive games, and plenty of prospects looking to make a statement.   In this piece, we're focusing on the 15U division, where a deep and talented group of young players will take the floor throughout the weekend. This age group is loaded with upside, skill, and emerging talent, making it one of the more intriguing divisions to follow. This spring, he's playing with a lot of confidence and has shown the ability to completely heat up offensively. While he can be streaky at times, when Aaron gets rolling, he can absolutely shoot the lights out. What stands out most is how effortless his offensive game looks. He gets to his mid-range jumper with ease, finishes well with either hand, and always seems to make teams pay when left open. Defensively, Aaron does a great job keeping the ball in front despite a smaller frame, competing hard and holding his own on that end of the floor. He's a skilled, tough, and entertaining player who is definitely one to watch this weekend.     Cam Jones is a player to watch this weekend after a strong winter and an outstanding spring showing. He plays the game with an extremely high basketball IQ and brings impressive length on the perimeter, allowing him to impact the game in a variety of ways. Jones is a super physical guard who rebounds at a high level and competes well against any age group. Offensively, he can score from all three levels and consistently finds ways to fill it up. His combination of toughness, skill, versatility, and feel for the game makes him one of the more intriguing prospects to keep an eye on this weekend in 15U. Jones has a very bright future ahead.     Colby is a player to watch this weekend because of the toughness, versatility, and leadership he brings to the floor. For a 2029 prospect, he has really good size on the wing and plays with a fearless mentality, always willing to take on the challenge of guarding the other team's best player. Coyne is also a reliable shooter who can heat up quickly and completely change the momentum of a game. He has extended 3-point range, a smooth follow-through, and looked really good last weekend. Beyond the skill set, what stands out most is his work ethic and leadership. He competes hard, works hard, and consistently shows the type of intangibles that make him a player coaches love to have on their team.     [player_tooltip player_id='2489407' first='Cole' last='Martin'] is one of the elite shooters in the Dakotas and a must-watch talent. After getting his feet wet on varsity this winter, he proved quickly that he belongs competing against top talent. Martin doesn't shy away from big moments either. If the game is close this weekend, don't be surprised if the ball finds its way into his hands. What makes Cole special is his cold-blooded shooting ability combined with his confidence and skill. He's a hard worker whose game will only continue to improve as he develops. If he adds a couple more inches physically, college coaches could be drooling. In the meantime, expect [player_tooltip player_id='2489407' first='Cole' last='Martin'] to show out in Minnesota this weekend.     Buchholz is a player to watch because this Blue Dragon can flat-out hoop. Coming off an impressive freshman varsity season where he averaged 10.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and earned All-Conference honors, Colton continues to show why his future is bright. What makes Colton stand out is his smooth, instinctive offensive game. He's a fluid catch-and-shoot threat with deep range and a smooth release, while also moving extremely well without the ball as a smart cutter and finisher. Beyond scoring, he impacts the game with hustle, defensive anticipation. With his skill set, IQ, and strong varsity production already as a freshman, [player_tooltip player_id='2713003' first='Colton' last='Buchholz'] is definitely a name to keep an eye on moving forward.     Yde is a player to watch because of the impact he brings on both ends of the floor. He's a super talented shooter, but what really separates him is his elite motor and nonstop effort. Chase competes every possession, brings toughness and energy every game, and consistently does the little things that help teams win. Chase has had a really strong spring so far as an impactful player because of the intensity and competitiveness he brings every time he steps on the court.     [player_tooltip player_id='2413186' first='Drew' last='Glasser'] from Dickson is a player to watch this weekend because he continues to improve every time he steps on the court. He's put together a really solid spring season so far and is showing steady growth in multiple areas of his game. Glasser is more than capable as a jump shooter and does a great job moving the ball and finding open teammates. As a coach's kid, he plays with a high basketball IQ, strong feel for the game, and a true team-first mentality. His athleticism will continue to improve as he develops physically, and with more growth still ahead, Drew has a lot of upside moving forward.     Tiger is a player to watch because of the energy, athleticism, and natural playmaking ability he brings to the floor. He competes hard every possession and has the type of quick-twitch that immediately stands out when watching him play. Whether it's attacking the rim, making plays in transition, or creating defensive pressure, Tiger finds ways to impact the game on both ends. He plays with confidence, toughness, and a fearless mentality that allows him to compete against bigger players. [player_tooltip player_id='2951413' first='Jakhi' last='Tiger'] is definitely a name worth keeping an eye on this weekend and in the coming years.     Haag is a player to watch because of his combination of size, skill, and scoring ability. He carries himself well on the court, and it doesn't take long to see that he can really hoop. He's a major threat from 3-point range with a smooth, effortless, and accurate shooting stroke that makes him dangerous anytime he touches the ball. What also makes Keaton stand out is his ability to attack off the bounce and score inside the arc. He's more than just a shooter, showing the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways. On a loaded Antl Fury team, he's proven himself as a talented player who makes plays and produces offensively.     Wavrin is a major player to watch because of his long-term upside and the complete skill set he already brings at a young age. Playing up in 16U, it'll be exciting to see how he continues to compete against older competition, especially considering the strong spring he's already had. Logan has all the tools coaches look for: great length, skill, shooting ability, footwork, confidence, and the ability to score at all three levels. He also moves well defensively and shows the versatility to impact the game on both ends of the floor. When you look at the big picture, [player_tooltip player_id='2400639' first='Logan' last='Wavrin'] has the talent and upside of a future D1-level player.     Mr. Voth is a player to watch after an impressive showing with [program_tooltip program_id='2076003' first='West' last='Central United'] a couple of weekends ago. This Raider has noteworthy size for a 9th-grade guard and already shows a polished offensive skill set that makes him tough to defend. Mac can absolutely shoot the cover off the ball, but his game goes beyond just perimeter shooting. He jumps and runs well, has sharp handles, and shows creativity finishing around the basket. With his combination of size, skill, and scoring ability, [player_tooltip player_id='2848334' first='Mac' last='Voth'] is definitely a young prospect trending in the right direction.     Staudinger from Dickinson is coming off a huge first weekend after averaging 15.5 points and 9 rebounds per game, and those numbers could climb even higher at Battle At The Lakes. He's a versatile player with nice length around the basket, allowing him to finish effectively inside while also impacting the game on the glass as a strong and productive rebounder. What makes Sam a player to watch is his balanced offensive game. He has a consistent and reliable jump shot from the perimeter, but also does a great job attacking the rim and scoring through contact. With his versatility, strength, and production, expect Sam to continue making a major impact this weekend.     Mr. Wyman is a player to watch for his potential and mobility at a young age. While I haven't had the opportunity to see him play in person yet, the reports surrounding his game have been promising. Trey is known as a quick, speedy guard who can put pressure on defenses with his pace and athleticism. Coming from a talented 2029 class at Sioux Valley and developing under legendary coach Bill Vincent, the expectation is that his skill set and overall game will continue to elevate. With his natural speed, upside, and strong basketball environment, Wyman is definitely a name to keep an eye on moving forward.     Barman is one of the top players to watch this weekend in the 15U Division at the Battle At The Lakes after an incredible All-State freshman season and a strong start this spring in club ball. As just a 9th grader, Barman averaged 20.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 3 steals per game while helping lead his team to the State Tournament. What makes Ty stand out is his explosive athleticism, high motor, and ability to impact the game in multiple ways. He plays with energy, competes hard on both ends, and is a powerful dunker who can completely change momentum with his athletic plays. His upside is extremely high, and it's easy to see why he already holds multiple Division 1 football offers while drawing interest from many more programs.
