Windy City War: 7 Shooters Worth Tracking

We previously covered a group of guards that stood out this past weekend at Windy City War, and now we shift the focus beyond the arc. A handful of 16U and 17U players caught my eye with their perimeter shooting across multiple games. Here are seven prospects worth tracking as the spring rolls on and summer ball approaches.    Caught my eye early Saturday morning against CBG 17U in a tight 59–55 win for [program_tooltip program_id='2075386' first='Chicago' last='Lockdown']. Murray showed his ability to space the floor, knocking down threes in transition and stepping into catch-and-shoot looks. Confident letting it fly with space, he consistently got to his spots in rhythm with a smooth release. He showed good movement off the ball to create open perimeter opportunities.     25-point outing against Chicago Fire 16U in a fun, competitive 60–49 win where he caught fire from deep. Quick trigger with a smooth release and deep range that forces defenders to pick him up early. Knocked down threes off the catch and off hand-offs, showing comfort using screens to fade or pop from the free-throw line extended. Consistently set his feet and maintained clean shooting mechanics throughout the game.     3-and-D presence in a double-overtime loss vs [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] 17U. Made his impact felt on the defensive end, including stepping in to take a charge and staying active with his hands in passing lanes. Offensively, he knocked down corner threes and hit a deep triple with the foul, providing key buckets down the stretch to keep his team within reach. Showed confidence wanting the ball and did a good job setting himself up for open perimeter looks.     Like his teammate Joey Kramer, Showman provided key contributions on both ends against [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] 17U. Knocked down perimeter shots, including clean catch-and-shoot threes, and showed confidence in his distance jumper throughout. Defensively, he stayed active with a well-timed strip and a block at the rim. Comfortable operating as a perimeter spot-up option, he didn't let missed looks affect his aggressiveness or approach.     Knocked down multiple timely threes in a momentum-shifting performance against [program_tooltip program_id='2075622' first='M14' last='Hoops'] 17U. Provided value as a catch-and-shoot threat from the wing, consistently spacing the floor when defenders sagged off and making them pay with perimeter makes. Took advantage of soft closeouts and showed confidence spotting up in rhythm when opportunities came.     Undersized guard who didn't let his size limit his impact for Pure Hoops 16U against [program_tooltip program_id='2075386' first='Chicago' last='Lockdown'] in an 8 point victory. Showed deep three-point range and confidence as a shooter, forcing defenders to extend and respect him beyond the arc. When defenders stayed attached, he mixed in runners and showed the ability to find teammates when pressured. Another shooter worth keeping on the radar.     Knocked down at least four threes in a double-digit win for Basketball Paradise over Da Future 17U on Sunday morning. Showed consistent range from the corner, wing, and deep wing, including a banked-in triple. His shooting helped maintain and extend a comfortable lead throughout the game. Also showed willingness to run the floor and generate quick offense in transition.
