With 62 point guards in the class, there is a ton of talent and competition at this position. We have multiple lead guards who are already taking the reins for their respective teams. There are 10 PG's ranked in the top-30, which is the most players in any position by a lot.

As you notice almost all mentioned here, outside of [player_tooltip player_id='2916091' first='Walter' last='Hennix III'] who plays prep ball and [player_tooltip player_id='3354402' first='Jalen' last='Knighton'], who was a star on JV, are all either starting already on varsity or playing heavy minutes and actually producing.

I can guesstimate how good a player will be, but until we all see it on varsity, it is just all upside at this point.

Here is the breakdown of the position:

The contenders at the top

[player_tooltip player_id='2194474' first='Isaiah' last='Rider IV'] Higley

He is currently at the top and the others will try and catch him the next few years. He has great size for position, feel to make players around him better, he shoots the three exceptionally well but he is also a very physical defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2759167' first='Taylan' last='Owens'] Canyon View

A smooth pure point guard with a yo-yo handle, speed with the ball and advanced court vision. He makes bail out passes and will slice a defense with his passes. He will score with threes off the catch or pull, mid-range jumpers and will throw it down on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='2533594' first='CJ' last='Johnson'] Desert Edge

A hyper athletic scoring point guard with some size is a next level finisher and athlete. He scores it easily from all three levels with high level mid-range jumpers and athletic drives. The higher the percentage he can make that deep ball, the better off he will be moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='2886380' first='Remy' last='Rose'] Carl Hayden

Another bigger guard with big time athleticism as he had one of the best poster dunks of the season in the playoffs. He is a next level passer with advanced court vision and will thread the needle. He likes getting downhill but can also shoot it from mid to the three. He is another who can keep shooting it better from deep the next 3 years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916091' first='Walter' last='Hennix III'] AZ Compass Prep

An undersized point guard with an elite motor to compete and defend. He is a very good play-maker setting the table with nice court vision. He is a true ball hawk with super quick feet and hands and next level speed. He has a tough middy and will throw it down shockingly on the break.

Another talented group with the Skill and Feel

[player_tooltip player_id='2886382' first='Brandon' last='Morris'] Pinnacle

A real point guard will have potentially a bigger role next year. He was Hurt's backup on varsity and came in and set the table and he makes next level passes. He has great speed, a super tight handle and the ability to score it from mid to the three and get downhill.

[player_tooltip player_id='2825980' first='Brexton' last='Quinet'] Desert Mountain

A good sized scoring point guard started many games for the Wolves. The lefty can shoot it with range beyond the three point line with a quicker trigger and makes smart reads up the court to a teammate. He loves using the pick and roll to his advantage.

[player_tooltip player_id='2759173' first='Jordan' last='Cruz'] Dysart

A scoring point guard is a highly skilled southpaw who can direct the offense but he is wired to score it. He led the 4A team to an Elite-8 appearance with his sharp shooting from mid to the three and has a nice burst to get to the basket with his tight handle.

[player_tooltip player_id='2842403' first='Malik' last='Frazier'] Bourgade Catholic

Another highly skilled point guard scores it easily with jumpers from mid to the three point line. He is starting to see the court with a next level feel and court vision while still managing to fill it up from the perimeter. He seems to be a little younger then some and if he gets anywhere near his brothers height at 6'5. watch out.

[player_tooltip player_id='3354402' first='Jalen' last='Knighton'] Arcadia

One of the top shooting lead guards in the class. He makes it look easy with his baby face, quick handle, speed and sweet shooting stroke from mid to the three. He makes threes better than most in the class off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='2894935' first='Kendell' last='Stapleton'] Desert Mountain

One of the true throwbacks in the class is a two-way true point guard who always has his head up looking to make a play and find a teammate in stride. He has quicker feet and a strong frame with lateral quickness to defend. He will score with occasional threes and bursts to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2883787' first='Turner' last='Armstrong'] Coolidge

THE guy at the 3A final team was Armstrong. He carried them in many stretches with his pinpoint passes up the court and shot making abilities. His three point stroke is pure with range. The AZ Media nicknamed him "Jason Williams" from the Saramento Kings with his sensational play.

[player_tooltip player_id='2759169' first='Kha'leal' last='Brown'] McClintock

A scoring lead guard played with an older group this year. He can make plays plus score it. He will have to shoulder a bigger work load next season with three starters graduating. He can score with tough takes to the basket and he has a nasty mid-range pull-up.

[player_tooltip player_id='2506524' first='Colin' last='Godfrey'] Cactus Shadows

An elite sixth man on varsity arguably has the top motor in the class as he uses his football background and toughness combined with his speed and athleticism. He is incredibly fast and aggressive to get downhill and rebounds, collect steals and makes plays.

NOTE: Only 4 others players who start or play a big role on varsity

[player_tooltip player_id='2812700' first='Thiago' last='Esquivel'] Maryvale

A high motored undersized point guard with big confidence and toughness. He will fight you up the court and keep his opponents in front of him with his lateral quickness and speed. He makes shots from all levels and is quick to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2854671' first='Jonathan' last='Ortiz'] Deer Valley

A varsity point guard on the 4A runner ups came in off the bench and provided a spark. He will handle the ball pressure and makes smart reads plus score it. He is quick with the ball who can get to the basket and will shoot it from mid to the three.

[player_tooltip player_id='3457310' first='Zeke' last='Bonner'] Desert Vista

A scoring point guard who got a rare start on varsity and in 6A. He has some size, skill and feel. He handles it fairly well and will make some plays and move the ball well. He can burst to the basket and hit the open three off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='3497316' first='TJ' last='Smith'] ALA-Ironwood

Smith was one of their core top-six, as he can play on or off the ball. He can handle the point guard role but likes to score it with speed in the open court, offensive rebound put backs and he will defend on the ball with collecting steals with his quick feet and hands and he will have a bigger varsity role next year.

With 62 point guards in the class, there is a ton of talent and competition at this position. We have multiple lead guards who are already taking the reins for their respective teams. There are 10 PG's ranked in the top-30, which is the most players in any position by a lot.
