LONG BEACH — Dinos Trigonis' Pangos Best of SoCal League is the ideal way for high school prospects to bridge the gap between the end of their high school seasons and the start of spring club basketball. We took in some action at McBride high school and below we break down the best forwards and centers we watched.

[player_tooltip player_id='1961186' first='Bryce' last='Iwuoha'] | 2026 | St. Monica Prep

Iwuoha was one of the most skilled all-around big men in this event. At 6-feet-7 and a strong 200-plus pounds, the senior has the skill to stretch the floor with face-up jumpers and drives and the power, touch, feel and footwork to score in the paint against bigger or smaller defenders. Iwuoha, a Las Vegas-native, averaged 24.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and earned a spot in the Cream of the Crop All-Star game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2879183' first='Camden' last='McKinney'] | 2027 | Oakland Tech

McKinney impressed with his offensive versatility which allowed him to do a little bit of everything on that end of the floor. The 6-foot-7 forward out of Northern California knocked down threes and mid-range jumpers off the catch, took defenders off the bounce and scored with finesse and through contact in the lane and showed a ton of feel and patience on the block as a scorer and passer. McKinney put up averages of 25.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2551743' first='Gavin' last='Kroll'] | 2026 | Cypress

Kroll is the true definition of the stretch four position. At 6-feet-6 with a strong frame, the unsigned senior is a consistent perimeter shooting threat in spot-up, trail and screening situations where he can pop into space and get his shot off quickly and efficiently. Kroll's biggest strength is his IQ when moving and relocating off the ball to clear up driving lanes and passing angles for teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916710' first='Geovanni' last='Gilpen'] | 2027 | North Torrance

Gilpen has physical and athletic tools that cannot be taught and are nearly unmatched in SoCal's 2027 class. At 6-feet-8, the junior has impressive length and a frame to build on once he arrives at the next level. Skill-wise, Gilpen is a gifted transition athlete and finisher who glides up and down the floor and is an effortless leaper and soft-touch finisher at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815195' first='Isaac' last='Hagens'] | 2027 | Long Beach Poly

Hagens was one of the most productive stat sheet stuffers in this event. The 6-foot-6 junior forward was good for a double-double each time he took the floor which resulted in him averaging 25.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game throughout the event. Hagens is a skilled and versatile four-man who blends a combination of size, skill and physicality that was tough for opposing defenders to deal with. Hagens' efficient inside-out scoring prowess makes us think he will be one of the biggest stock-risers this spring and summer.

James Wright | 2026 | Loyola

Wright has garnered a lot of media and college interest since the end of the high school season and it started with his high motor and productive play at the Best of SoCal Showcase. The 6-foot-9 center showed the ability to rebound in and out of his area, played a physical style in the paint, attacked the rim aggressively and finished through and above contact and ran the floor with purpose in transition where his soft hands and fluid movements allowed him to catch, gather and finish on the move.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750203' first='Owen' last='Eteuati-Edwards'] | 2028 | Arcadia

Edwards is one of the top 2028 prospects in the state and he had his combination of size, skill and physicality on full display throughout this event. The 6-foot-8 forward is a bruiser in the lane who thrives on initiating contact and using it to create space and angles to score around the rim. Edwards can also venture out on the perimeter and breakdown slower defenders off the bounce or overpower smaller defenders en route to high percentage paint finishes. Edwards averaged 23.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
