FHSAA Final 4 - Day 1

The Florida High School Athletic Association State Championships tipped off Thursday in Jacksonville with two Class 2A semifinal matchups. With a trip to the state championship game on the line, several players stepped up with strong performances. Here is a look at some of the standout efforts from the Class 2A semifinal action.    The LSU commit delivered an outstanding performance, especially in the first half, helping set the tone for the Lions on his way to a game-high 27 points. Thomas scored efficiently at all three levels, showing the ability to create his own offense off the dribble while also knocking down shots from beyond the arc. His combination of scoring ability, confidence, and offensive versatility makes him a difficult matchup for opposing defenses. Thomas possesses as much long-term upside as any prospect in the state.     As strong as Thomas was in the first half, it was Nealy who helped seal the victory for Sagemont, finishing with 26 points in the contest. The senior is a high-level shot maker who connected on five three-point field goals Thursday afternoon, consistently stretching the defense with his perimeter shooting. He also showed the ability to put the ball on the floor, attack the rim off the dribble, and finish in the paint. Active and engaged on the defensive end as well, Nealy is a player college coaches in search of a proven shot maker should have firmly on their radar.     The senior is one of the most explosive players in the country and consistently impacts the game with his athleticism and energy. Ekufu is a high-level finisher who plays with a relentless motor and brings versatility to both ends of the floor. Offensively, he is at his best attacking the rim but also has the ability to step out and knock down open shots from beyond the arc. Defensively, his length and athleticism allow him to alter shots, protect the paint, and guard multiple positions effectively.     The Army commit is a skilled wing who brings an impressive combination of size, strength, and versatility to the floor. DiPaolo finished with 16 points in the loss, showcasing his ability to knock down perimeter shots while also attacking the rim and finishing through contact. He plays with a high basketball IQ and consistently makes the right reads within the offense. In addition, DiPaolo is a very capable passer who sees the floor well and can create opportunities for his teammates.     The primary ball handler for CFCA finished with 10 points on Thursday afternoon and helped steady the offense throughout the game. The left-handed point guard is reliable with the ball in his hands and does a good job controlling the tempo. He is a solid shot maker who can score when opportunities present themselves. With good quickness and the ability to handle pressure, he provides stability and playmaking from the lead guard position.     The junior combo guard finished with 11 points for the Eagles and showed his versatility in the backcourt. He is comfortable playing both on and off the ball, giving his team flexibility in the offense. A solid shot maker, he can knock down open looks and create scoring opportunities when needed. He also plays with good poise and decision-making, consistently making smart reads with the basketball.
