Expert Analysis
Jack Pfeiffer | Prep Hoops Scout
Kevin, the 4-star senior, who recently decommitted from LSU, showed off why he is one of the most highly touted unsigned 2026 prospects in the country. He has a lengthy 6’8” frame, bringing so much versatility to the table as a wing. He is a sniper from deep, connecting on several threes, as he is a very tough player to close out on with his size and high release point on his shot. Thomas was also fun to watch in the open floor, throwing down some crazy dunks, showcasing his athleticism that makes him so special.

The LSU commit delivered an outstanding performance, especially in the first half, helping set the tone for the Lions on his way to a game-high 27 points. Thomas scored efficiently at all three levels, showing the ability to create his own offense off the dribble while also knocking down shots from beyond the arc. His combination of scoring ability, confidence, and offensive versatility makes him a difficult matchup for opposing defenses. Thomas possesses as much long-term upside as any prospect in the state.

The LSU signee is back at Sagemont after beginning the season at Montverde Academy and he looks very comfortable in his old uniform. Thomas has high level size and athleticism but his perimeter skill set looks improved and his jump shot is becoming more consistent. With his size and length, he is able to create his own offense and shoot over most defenders. His return is obviously a huge part of the Lions reaching their postseason goals.

Thomas put on a defensive clinic during the state championship. His ability to read his assignment and anticipate movement and shot attempts and meet some at the apex to block it was impressive. An anchor in the post and also able to lock down the wing on a switch, Thomas will become the prime defender most likely next year as well for Sagemont.

I mentioned it months ago, this kid was being slept on but now is getting interest from P4 programs. College coaches, this kid is 6-7 versatile basketball player that has shown development from year one to now. Thomas is an athletic ball player with a developing jump shot and a long frame that coaches can work with. Plenty of time to add weight to his frame but doesn’t play soft now anyway. Going to keep my eyes on his progression to provide updates for readers and coaches.

Thomas was another player who showed off some great skills on both sides of the ball. His reach and length were used to deter and disrupt the offense whenever he had a chance. He also has tight ball handling skills, was able to split defenders with his dribble and get to the lane to finish. He also plays the game with his eyes up also looking to involve teammates. On a drive, late in the 2nd quarter, he drew the defense in and kicked to the short corner and had the assist that led to the assist for a knock down from the top of the key for

is up next. He is that preeminent glue guy every team needs. Flashing to the right spot on offense for an open layup and being able to get a hand in passing lanes and force the opposition into turnovers that lead to points. Thomas didn’t see a high volume of minutes on the floor in Memphis but what he was able to do sticks with you after the highlights fade as you can pinpoint something he did in a game that lead to a victory.

The 6-7 sophomore forward is emerging as one of the top two-way prospects in the class. He plays with a ton of length at both ends of the floor where he can score off put-backs or lobs thrown at the rim. Thomas also has a dangerous catch-and-shoot release when it comes to scoring from the perimeter. On the defensive end, Thomas is an elite shot blocker and rebounder which is one of his underrated values in his game. His upside continues to rise as he has the potential to be a top ranked prospect before his high school career is over.
