Everyone wants to talk about scorers and stars in today's game, but there are still plenty of players out there that make their teammates better with their passing ability. Here's a look at some of the best underrated playmakers in the Northern VA area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2898014' first='Dylan' last='Williams'] | 5'10” PG | Heritage-Leesburg 2027

Williams is the floor general for this talented Heritage team that is looking to make a deep run in the upcoming playoffs, and he's part of a talented backcourt that can score it and share the rock as well. The 5'10” lead guard is a talented ball handler who changes pace well and can get by defenders to kick out or dump off, he makes great reads in transition and in ball screens, and he runs the show and puts his teammates in the right positions to succeed.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552618' first='Dhruv' last='Iyer'] | 6'1” CG | Bethel Academy 2027

Iyer may not be the primary ball handler for Bethel because they have one of the best point guards in the DMV, but he's a player who makes his team better in every way you can think of. When he's off the ball he's constantly moving and makes shots from deep, when he's on the ball he's great in drive and kicks and running the ball screens, and he plays the game with a great IQ making the correct and simple play every time.

[player_tooltip player_id='3499719' first='Brady' last='Conklin'] | 6'0” PG | Woodson 2027

Conklin has been the breakout player for Woodson so far this season, and one of the breakout players in all of NOVA, as he's been putting up big numbers as both a scorer and a distributor this season. The 6'0” lead guard plays with great patience as he allows plays to develop and sees the floor very well, in transition he pitches ahead and is unselfish when he has numbers, and because he's such a lethal scorer you have to play him as one which creates advantages.

[player_tooltip player_id='2788037' first='Kevin' last='Reyes'] | 6'0” PG | Stonebridge 2027

Reyes emerged last season as one of the breakout players in the NOVA area, and he has only gotten better as one of the top dual threat guards in all of public basketball this season. He's a super skilled guard with a tight handle and good burst to get in the lane to make plays, he scores it efficiently from all three levels so defenders have to help in ball screens and hand-offs, and he's really good at reading rotations and noticing mismatches to get his teammates easy shots.

Josh Orbida | 5'10” PG | Potomac Falls 2027

Orbida is quietly emerging as one of the top guards in Loudoun County, as he's been nothing short of rock solid and consistent all season for Potomac Falls. The 5'10” lead guard is confident with the ball and is able to drag out plays and read the defense to find open teammates, he lives in the lane with his ability to come off screens or break down defenders in isolation, and his midrange game makes help defenders step out where he can drop it to bigs or kick out to shooters.

[player_tooltip player_id='2966230' first='Devan' last='Howe'] | 6'0” PG | Heritage-Leesburg 2028

Howe is the other guy in the backcourt at Heritage that just plays the right way and plays winning basketball, and partnered with Williams there are no complaints from teammates as they all get easy shots. The 6'0” guard is great at pushing the pace and getting guys layups in transition, he runs the pick-and-roll very well and makes all the right reads, and he picks his spots and scores it efficiently when he needs to.
