On Tuesday, Feb 17th I watched the playoff match-up of #4 seeded The Gregory School Hawks hosting the #13 seeded Ray Bearcats in the 1A Sweet-16.

From start to finish the 2-time defending 1A Champions led and it was a running clock in the 4th quarter led by [player_tooltip player_id='2133645' first='Razin' last='Smith Jr'] and the seniors. They advance to the Elite-8 with an 88-53 win.

One of the stars of the night was Smith Jr. He is a cerebral power forward who is a phenomenal passer for his position. He has great feel and soft hands. He will consistently find teammates in stride in the high post or once he gets doubled team. He will score with contested layups, tip dunks and often earns trips to the FT line. He blocks shots and collects steals as well. He had a gaudy stat line of 11 points 10 rebounds 5 assists 3 steals and 2 blocks unofficially.

[player_tooltip player_id='2761277' first='Savion' last='Smith'] The Gregory School

The younger brother had a good game for himself. He is a long combo guard who moves the ball smartly but has a knack of scoring. He is a natural shooter off the catch from the three point line with a quick trigger. He will also get out in transition for layups. He scored 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3504450' first='Ben' last='Head'] The Gregory School

A true combo guard will facilitate and score it. He is a heady guard who can dime teammates with up the court passes and drives and kicks. He scores it with threes off the catch, mid-range jumpers, euro steps in the lane and loves using the floater game. He finished with a few assists and 17 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3504452' first='Devin' last='Dawson'] The Gregory School

A scoring guard is a thicker framed lefty who rebounds well in his area. He poured in 20 points in style with deep jumpers from the three point line, transition buckets, layups in traffic with either hand with his stronger frame getting downhill. He also rebounds well in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='3504458' first='Amay' last='Munjal'] The Gregory School

A scoring wing forward with a nice shooting touch and a good feel for the game. He moves without the ball and gets himself open to score with euro steps, tough layups running the floor and threes off the catch. Defensively he will collect steals and even block shots. He finished with 16 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3504529' first='Logan' last='Rice'] Ray

An undersized power forward has a top notch motor. He loves to get shots off the glass and grabs balls in and out of his area and will often score with offensive rebound put backs. He runs the floor and will fight for position and almost seeks the contact inside. He finished with 5+ points and 7+ rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='3504524' first='Chase' last='Chester'] Ray

A strong framed wing forward was the team's top performer for the game and the season. He is a tough two-way player who rebounds the ball well and will score it. He shoots it from mid range better then most and he will extend out to the three. He loves using runners and scores it with and-1's in the lane. He finished with a team high of 20 points.
