One of the most anticipated matchups of the entire season was this second matchup between Greenville and T.L. Hanna. It was always going to be a crucial matchup in the 5A Region 1 standings, but now with some other schools stepping up and getting hot at the right time it was a must-win for both teams. The Red Raiders ended up getting the win and defending home floor, but it was clear to see the stars that shined and the hustle players who made a difference in the result.

One of the things that sets this Greenville team apart from some of the other really good teams in 5A Division One is guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1738001' first='Arkeis' last='Shell']. Yes, they have the big names, but they also have dudes who simply just want it more. Nuke went for 22 points and 3 steals in the win, stepping up with timely threes and late playmaking. Because of how talented the Red Raiders' roster is, Shell will often be the guy who defenses help off. So, when he hits shots like he did last night, it makes them a really difficult offense to stop. Arkeis also has some excellent ball-tracking instincts, which transfer over from success on the football field, and they showed up late as he made some crucial defensive plays.

Gavin is a mix of a star and a hustle guy because he is both one of their best players and their hardest-working players. Griffin was excellent on the glass early in the game, racking up 6 of his 9 rebounds across the first 16:00. He also stepped up with 10 points, displaying an ability to hit mid-range jumpers both off the catch and the dribble. Gavin struggled with some foul trouble in the second half, which was one of the reasons why T.L. Hanna got back into the game, but he put the icing on the cake inside two minutes with a dunk to put his guys back up 8.

The third Greenville standout from their 71-64 win over T.L. Hanna was [player_tooltip player_id='2027918' first='Tucker' last='Scholl']. Scholl put up a game-high 25 points, his second time doing so in a win against the Yellow Jackets this season. Although the scoring was impressive, it was his ability to do everything with 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals that was most important to his team. Tucker and the Red Raiders clearly had the energy advantage early, as he forced three turnovers in the first two minutes and had several offensive rebounds. When Scholl is active without the ball in his hands, he is one of the best players in the state, and it makes Greenville extremely hard to beat.

Brice really turned it on in the third quarter to keep the Yellow Jackets within striking range. He had 11 points and 2 assists in the period, showcasing his combination of post moves and off-the-dribble creation. At his size, that pair is a matchup nightmare for high-school teams, but also very intriguing for college coaches. Those flashes of potential included a pull-up three, finishes through contact at the rim, and an assist as a pick-and-pop ball-handler. Wiersma finished with 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in the loss.

While it was Wiersma who kept it at 10, the Yellow Jackets got the lead all the way down to five when Williams returned to the game in the fourth quarter. Jamijay is such a crucial player to this squad because of all the things he does to impact winning. He hit two catch-and-shoot threes in the first quarter while also making the right pass against heavy ball pressure. However, it's not just positive offensive stuff with Jamijay, he is also an excellent defender who can guard his yard or create chaos in passing lanes and zone defenses.
