NSPA Basketball League Albuquerque Stop Young Standouts

During the weekend of February 20–23, 2026, prep programs from across the region traveled to Albuquerque for a competitive showcase featuring high-level talent from around the country. Many of the participating teams are composed of players competing in various high school circuits nationwide. ABC Prep hosted the event and used the opportunity to highlight the impact of its younger core. Several underclassmen demonstrated the ability to influence game outcomes, showing poise, skill development, and long-term upside against strong competition. He's a polished three-level scorer who plays with confidence and controlled aggression. Comfortable shooting it off the catch or the bounce from beyond the arc, he forces defenders to close out hard which opens up his mid-range game, where he's especially effective creating space and rising over contests.   What stood out this weekend is his shot-making ability. Caden can generate offense late in the clock, break down defenders in isolation, and convert tough, contested looks. He finishes well at the rim and doesn't shy away from contact.   As defenses adjusted and sent extra attention, his scoring ability created opportunities for others. He impacts the game both as a bucket-getter and as a player who shifts defensive coverages. With continued physical development and defensive consistency, his ceiling continues to rise. He uses his downhill ability not only to score but to collapse defenses and create opportunities for teammates. His paint touches serve as a catalyst for ball movement and offensive flow.   This weekend, he effectively dictated the pace of play and maintained composure under defensive pressure. Evan rarely appeared rushed or out of control, regardless of the defensive looks he faced. His court vision and decision-making helped his team handle pressure and stay organized offensively.   While he has the strength to finish through contact, he also demonstrated a soft shooting touch, showing balance between physicality and finesse. Evan is steady floor general who can control tempo, initiate offense, and apply consistent rim pressure. He had a highlight game winning shot during the weekend which helped his team end 2-0 on the weekend.     Jamal Washington is a two-way playmaker capable of shifting momentum instantly. Offensively, he attacks the rim with explosiveness, finishing above the rim and converting through contact. He thrives in transition and consistently turns defensive stops into easy points. While his athleticism stands out, he also showed the ability to knock down jumpers off the catch and off the dribble.   Defensively, Jamal is a disruptor. He pressures ball handlers, jumps passing lanes, and protects the rim with strong recovery speed highlighted by a chase-down block in transition. His energy, motor, and developing skill set make him a high-upside impact player on both ends.     Carmelo Mason is a promising underclassman with the tools to be a foundational piece for ABC Prep moving forward. His size, rebounding ability, and perimeter shooting give him strong long-term upside. His ability to stretch the floor is particularly impressive. In the opening game this weekend, Carmelo was locked in from deep, shooting confidently and efficiently. As he found rhythm, his teammates consistently looked to feed him in scoring spots. The coaching staff's trust in his shot-making was evident, as he was given the opportunity to take and convert the game-winning three. In the opening game, he faced significant defensive pressure and physical play but responded with poise and maturity. Rather than forcing action, he adjusted as the game progressed and elevated his impact.   His ability to handle pressure benefits his entire team. Jashon consistently looks to make the right read, turning good shots into great ones by delivering the ball on time and in the right spots. When defenders begin to sag or overplay passing lanes, he shifts gears attacking the paint and scoring in bunches.   The first game of the weekend tested both his physical and mental toughness, and he met the challenge. The more pressure applied, the more composed and effective he became a strong indicator of his long-term potential as a lead guard.
