Cleveland guard Remy Albrecht, Prep Hoop New Mexico's No. 1 prospect for the 2026 class, verbally committed to NMHU earlier today, six weeks after leading the Storm to the Class 5A state championship game against Volcano Vista.

In the title game, Albrecht put all his impressive talents on full display by scoring a game-high 28 points, burying five 3-pointers, making five steals and dishing out two assists.

Albrecht has arguably been one of the state's top two or three players for the past two seasons. In 2025-26, he averaged 22.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game. He drained close to 100 3-pointers, connecting on close to 40 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.

As a junior, Albrecht averaged 29.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.8 steals per game.

Albrecht brings superb shooting skills to NMHU. He scored 2,063 career points and made 232 3-pointers for the Storm during his impressive prep career.

Walton committed to West Florida last fall but opened up his recruiting following a coaching change at the school. Eastern New Mexico and Valdosta (Ga.) State extended offers shortly thereafter.

Walton was a key contributor to a Las Cruces Bulldawgs team this past season that finished with an overall record of 25-6, tied for second place in its district and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 5A tournament before falling to eventual champion Volcano Vista.
