Offensively, he scores efficiently around the rim, can step out and knock down shots, and is especially effective in pick-and-roll situations and in transition. Defensively, he's a strong rim protector who alters shots and plays with physicality. Petersburg's early success — including a national ranking — is no coincidence, and Givan has been a major reason why. Defensively, his length and strength make it difficult for opponents to score in the paint, and he does a great job keeping bodies out of the lane. While he can knock down the three, his ability to score in the mid-range really stands out, especially when attacking mismatches. He's a willing and capable facilitator, but can also take over as a scorer when needed. Defensively, he's one of the better on-ball guards in the area, competing every possession and embracing pressure situations.
