I spent a week at the annual Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. The prep division kicked it off for a few days followed by the CIF/AIA division for 4 days. Some elite teams around the country battled it out and here were some of the standouts I watched.

Here were the SG/SF Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='1956217' first='PJ' last='Nowlin Jr'] Canyon View (Pictured)

A good sized scoring guard has improved his skill in the last year. He has a polished mid-range jumper off the dribble and will hit the three off the catch. He is patient in the post and plays off off two-feet. He will give a hard ball fake and dribble past his initial defender and he is a good passer and slowly becoming a true guard with his improving ball skills. He will still defend multiple positions, rebound and block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133808' first='Malachi' last='Jordan'] Dream City Christian

A bigger wing forward with a strong frame, serious springs and a lot of skill. He will pull-up from mid to the three, blow by his defender to the basket and dunk the ball way above the rim. He rebounds well in his area and he is becoming a better shot blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='2249943' first='Lleyton' last='Leonard'] Basha

A bigger guard/wing with a huge wingspan and motor to compete. He had some rim rattling dunks on the break after he rips some pockets. He rebounds in and way out of his area and he is natural driver. He will score with put backs and threes off the catch. One of the top sophs locally made the All-Tournament team, which is a very prestigious honor over the years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2622811' first='Kaleb' last='DeHaan'] Phhoenix Prep NSPA

A bigger guard/wing is a top of the food chain catch and shoot three point shooter with range. He squares up about as quick as you can and can also score it with downhill drives and takes in traffic and will absorb the contact or get fouled. He also rebounds well in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2961012' first='Nathan' last='Yambayamba'] Bella Vista Prep

A bigger wing forward who will catch and shoot from the three point line, score with tough baskets inside, offensive rebound put backs and occasional pull-ups. He rebounds well in his area, defends his position and will block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2211004' first='Rokiem' last='Green'] Bella Vista Prep

The San Jose State commit is your classic 3 and D type. He rattled in four threes one by one as his point guard found him in transition or in the half court set as he needs very little space and time to get his shot off. He will also get to the basket and draw fouls.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194476' first='Martray' last='Bagley'] Dream City Christian

A strong framed scoring guard with great size, length and a college frame. He is turning into your classic 3 and D type. He is a catch and shoot type with some range and gets out in transition. He can get a step on his defender to the rack and he is a sneaky good passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2550840' first='Austin' last='Turner'] Perry

A wing forward with plus size and a knack for making plays and defending. He will defend the point guard position and then switch onto a power forward with his size and length combined with his lateral quickness and athleticism. He is a great defender in space and inside. He will score it in transition or from the perimeter.
