This year's freshman class has turned on the burners early in the season, making the most of each opportunity provided to them. On my list are several guys who have thrived on their new teams, wasting no time putting their name on the grid. These aren't the players in the top five rankings either; these are some of the biggest sleepers this state has to offer. Let's talk about it.

[player_tooltip player_id='2824001' first='Rowan' last='Bess'] has been a bright spot for the Regis Raiders, and the six-foot freshman is just getting started. Bess takes his time on offense, as he looks comfortable getting into his rhythm in the shot-creating process. At 6'0, Bess has no problem absorbing contact and getting creative around the paint. Becoming a key piece of the puzzle for Regis, I expect Bess to take leaps and bounds this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2821942' first='Stanley' last='Tsai'] had made an immediate impact on Kent Denver, earning 4.2 PPG, 1.1 SPG, and 1.6 APG as only a freshman. Tsai gets out quickly in transition and protects the ball efficiently, minimizing turnovers and maximizing scoring. This summer, Tsai was productive with [program_tooltip program_id='2075800' first='PSB' last=''], showcasing his elite handling as a combo guard. Look out for Tsai to continue improving and fine tuning each aspect of his game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2833224' first='Jaxson' last='Teff'] is one of the shiftiest forwards in his class. You'll find Teff always keeping his head up, looking for his teammates. I was impressed this summer when I watched him with the Flyers, as his energy levels elevated his team to new heights. At 6'3, Teff has no problem ducking a shoulder down, getting physical down low, and converting at a high percentage. As only a freshman, I see Teff blossoming into a superstar in the next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2828056' first='Matty' last='Lyle'] has thrived as the only freshman on Centarus. Beyond the box score, Lyle brings enormous 2-way potential as he takes pride in closing out on shooters and crashing for rebounds. On an already loaded Centaurus squad with juniors and seniors, Lyle looked comfortable during the 17 minutes he's gotten all season, knocking down 3 out of his 3 shots. When Lyle's volume gets bumped up as the season progresses, I see him being a legitimate threat to opposing defenses.

Joel Costello is a confident shooting guard who's the only freshman on Flatirons Academy's varsity squad. The 5'10 playmaker has averaged 5.3 PPG in his last 4 games since Dec. 13, and I only expect him to continue this hot streak. Costello does the intangibles really well, and translates to him being extremely coachable. With plenty of room to grow and development to be made, Costello is on his way to being one of Flatiron Academy's premier options.
